Richard Dixon, born Clifton Reginald Walker (26 May 1905 – 7 March 1976) was an Australian trade unionist who served as national president of the Communist Party of Australia from 1948 to 1972. He was born at Forbes to miner Henry Kidd Walker and Emily, ''née'' Wilmott, although the family soon moved to Lithgow. Reginald, as he was known, left school at fourteen and worked at a bicycle shop and then at a post office. He joined the New South Wales Government Railways and Tramways in 1925 and briefly joined the Australian Labor Party, although he was quickly drawn to the Communist Party of Australia (CPA). Moving to Sydney in 1928 to work at the railway parcels office, he became secretary of the CPA's Sydney branch in 1929, as well as secretary of the local branch of the Australian Railways Union. Richard Dixon (born 23 February 1990) is a Jamaican footballer who plays as a defender for Chattanooga FC in MLS Next Pro. Career College and amateur Dixon played four years of college soccer at the University of West Florida. During his time at college, Dixon also played for USL PDL clubs Mississippi Brilla in 2010 and 2011 and Panama City Beach Pirates in 2012. Professional Dixon signed his first professional contract in 2013, signing for new USL Pro franchise VSI Tampa Bay FC. Richard Watson Dixon (5 May 1833 – 23 January 1900), English poet and divine, son of Dr James Dixon, a Wesleyan minister. Biography He was the eldest son of Dr. James Dixon, a distinguished Wesleyan preacher, by Mary, only daughter of the Rev. Richard Watson. In the biography he wrote of his father, Dixon describes his mother as 'an excellent Latin and Greek scholar, a perfect French and a sufficient Italian linguist, and an exquisite musician;' and of his grandmother, Mrs. Watson, who made a home with her daughter, he retained an affectionate recollection as of a very good and clever woman. Richard Frederick Dixon (born August 5, 1940) is an American criminal principally known for hijacking Eastern Airlines Flight 953 from Detroit to Cuba in October 1971 and for the second-degree murder of South Haven police officer, Michael McAllister, in January 1976. He was convicted on these charges after his capture in 1976. He was sentenced in Michigan state court to life in prison on the murder charge and in federal court to an additional 40 years on federal charges of air piracy and kidnapping. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, and raised in St. Clair, Michigan, he served two years in the United States Navy. He was convicted of a 1963 robbery in New York, but only after a four-year detention in a mental hospital when he was found incompetent to stand trial.
