Richard C. Kim
Richard C. Kim is a retired United States Army brigadier general. Biography Kim graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In May 1988, after his graduation he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the infantry. Kim has served on staff at multiple levels of command, including Battalion, Regiment, Sub-unified Combatant Commands, Multinational NATO Operational command, and the Army Staff. In 2001, he was appointed as 3rd Ranger Battalion Liaison Officer and Operations Officer, and later as the Assistant Operations Officer and Regimental Executive Officer for the 75th Ranger Regiment. After which, he commanded the 2nd Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment 82nd Airborne Division (from 2005 to 2006); the 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (which deployed to Afghanistan from 2011 to 2012, and Deputy Commanding General (Maneuver) for 2nd Infantry Division (Combined), Eighth Army, in South Korea from 2014 to 2015. Air Assault Badge
The Air Assault Badge, U.S. Army Institute of Heraldry, dated 18 January 1978, last accessed 16 October 2020 is awarded by the U.S. Army for successful completion of the Air Assault School. The course includes three phases of instruction involving U.S. Army rotary wing aircraft: combat air assault operations; rigging and slingloading operations; and rappelling from a helicopter. According to the United States Army Institute of Heraldry, "The Air Assault Badge was approved by the Chief of Staff, Army, on 18 January 1978, for Army-wide wear by individuals who successfully completed Air Assault training after 1 April 1974. 2nd Infantry Division (United States)
The 2nd Infantry Division (2ID, 2nd ID) ("Indianhead") is a formation of the United States Army. Its current primary mission is the pre-emptive defense of South Korea in the event of an invasion from North Korea. There are approximately 17,000 soldiers in the 2nd Infantry Division, with 10,000 of them stationed in South Korea, accounting for about 35% of the United States Forces Korea personnel. The 2nd Infantry Division is unique in that it is the only U.S. Army division that is made up partially of South Korean soldiers, called KATUSAs (Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army). The 25th Infantry Division (nicknamed "Tropic Lightning") is a United States Army division based at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.
