Richard Browne (fl 1614–1629)
Richard Browne (fl 1614–1629) was an English composer and organist. He is known for his anthems; five of which survive: ''Christ rising again''; ''If the Lord himself''; ''I have declared''; ''My God, my God, look upon me''; and ''O Lord, rebuke me not in thy fury''. 17th century documents of these anthems are part of the collection at the Bodleian Library, the Chained library at Wimborne Minster (church), Wimborne Minster, the library of the Gloucester Cathedral, and the library of the Royal College of Music. The earliest record of Richard Browne dates from March 26, 1614 in which he is listed in the treasurer's report of the Wells Cathedral in Wells, Somerset, England as the vicar-choral and organist of that church. In 1615 he was promoted to perpetual vicar-choral of that cathedral, and remained on the payroll in that capacity through 1619. Richard Browne (born July 9, 1991 in Jackson, Mississippi) is an American sprint runner. In 2007 an accident sent him through a plate glass window, which resulted in an arterial bleed causing permanent damage to his right leg. In 2010, after 14 surgical operations, his leg was amputated. "I was 16 years old in the prime of my life. I go through a window one day and from that point on my life is changed forever". At the 2012 Paralympic Games, he won a Silver Medal in the 100m event. In July 2013 at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships at the Stade du Rhône in Lyon he broke Jonnie Peacock's world record when he recorded a time of 10.83 in the T44 100m semi-finals. He subsequently broke the T44 100m world record with a time of 10.75 in the 2013 Paralympic Anniversary Games in London. Early days Brown was born at Dumbarton, Scotland, to John Brown, and his wife Janet (née Kidston). Richard Lewis Brown Sr. (1854–1948) was a builder and state politician who lived in Jacksonville, Florida. An African American, Brown was born in South Carolina and moved with his family to Florida after the American Civil War, first to Lake City and then Jacksonville. He was married in 1875 and worked as a carpenter, farmer, and minister. He served two terms in the Florida House of Representatives from 1881 to 1884. Sir Richard Browne (ca. 1539 – 1604), of Horsley, Essex and later of Sayes Court, Deptford, Kent, was an English politician. He was a younger son of John Browne of Colchester, Essex and trained in the law at either the Inner or Middle Temple. He was knighted in 1603. He was a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Lichfield in 1584, Newtown (Isle of Wight) in 1593, Cirencester in 1601 and Harwich in 1604. He accompanied the Earl of Leicester on his expedition to the Netherlands in 1585 as victualler of his forces. He was appointed the Clerk of the Green Cloth in 1588, was a clerk comptroller of the Household by 1596 and Master of the Household and cofferer from 1603 until his death. Sir Richard Browne, 1st Baronet of Deptford (c. 1605 – 12 February 1682/83) was English ambassador to the court of France at Paris from 1641 to 1660. Richard Earle Brown is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in the 2007 provincial election. He represented the electoral district of Charlottetown-Victoria Park as a member of the Liberal Party. He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in a 1997 by-election, following the resignation of Wayne Cheverie. He was subsequently defeated by Bob MacMillan in the 2000 provincial election, but defeated MacMillan when he ran again in the 2003 election.
