Richard Brose
Richard Keats Brose (6 May 1897 – 14 May 1969) was an Australian politician. He was born in Colac to law clerk Joseph Frederick Brose and Ellen Elizabeth Catt. He was twice wounded serving with the AIF during World War I, and was a dairy farmer after the war and active in the Returned and Services League and the Country Party. On 20 October 1926 he married Audrey Dare. He served on Deakin Shire Council from 1939 to 1947. In 1944 he won a by-election for the Victorian Legislative Assembly seat of Rodney; although not the endorsed Country Party candidate, he was president of the local branch of the party and joined it in parliament. From 1950 to 1952 he was Minister of Water Supply and Conservation. Colac is a small city in the Western District of Victoria, Australia, approximately 150 kilometres south-west of Melbourne on the southern shore of Lake Colac. William Dunstone
William Dunstone (27 October 1877 – 12 April 1944) was an Australian politician. He was born in Newstead to farmer James Dunstone and Elizabeth Jane Winn. He grew up around Seymour, where he attended state schools and worked on his father's farm. In 1908 he married Victoria Elizabeth Greer, with whom he had a son. Dunstone acquired his own farm at Wanurp, and served on Rochester Shire Council from 1920 to 1942, with two terms as president (1923–24, 1933–34). A founding member of the Country Party, he won a by-election for the Victorian Legislative Assembly seat of Rodney in 1936. Russell Stanley Leslie McDonald (12 May 1913 – 20 January 1980) was an Australian politician. Biography He was born in Kyabram to labourer Donald Alexander Leslie McDonald and Jessie Taylor. He ran a service station in Echuca before entering politics, and was also a local councillor (1947–58) and mayor (1956–58). Around 1938 he married Barbara Catherine Hall, with whom he had three children. In 1964 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly The Victorian Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of Victoria in Australia; the upper house being the Victorian Legislative Council. Echuca ( ) is a town on the banks of the Murray River and Campaspe River in Victoria, Australia. The border town of Moama is adjacent on the northern side of the Murray River in New South Wales. Echuca is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Shire of Campaspe. As of the , Echuca had a population of 15,056, and the population of the combined Echuca and Moama townships was 22,568. Echuca lies within traditional Yorta Yorta country. First Australian Imperial Force
The First Australian Imperial Force (1st AIF) was the main expeditionary force of the Australian Army during the First World War. It was formed as the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) following Britain's declaration of war on Germany on 15 August 1914, with an initial strength of one infantry division and one light horse brigade. The infantry division subsequently fought at Gallipoli between April and December 1915, with a newly raised second division, as well as three light horse brigades, reinforcing the committed units. After being evacuated to Egypt, the AIF was expanded to five infantry divisions, which were committed to the fighting in France and Belgium along the Western Front in March 1916.
