Richard Hartley Smith Abbott (1859 – 28 February 1940) was an Australian politician. Born in Bendigo, Victoria, he was educated at Bendigo High School and then at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He became a businessman, especially in tanning, building societies and gas companies. He served on Strathfieldsaye Council, and in 1907 was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly, serving until 1913. Having served as Mayor of Bendigo City Council in 1917, he returned to the Council 1922-1928 for the Country Party. Richard Abbott is a fictional character on the American soap opera '' One Life to Live''. The role was originated in January 1977 by actor Luke Reilly. The nephew of Victor Lord and first cousin to Victoria Lord, the role last appears in January 1987 portrayed by actor Jeffrey Byron. Casting Luke Reilly originated the role of Victor Lord's nephew Richard Abbott onscreen January 1977, and played the role through 1979. Robert S. Woods originally auditioned for the recast of Richard with ''One Life to Live'' executive producer Joseph Stuart and opposite fictional cousin Victoria Lord Riley (Erika Slezak). Stuart cast Woods to play new character and featured protagonist Bo Buchanan, and Richard was played by newcomer Keith Langsdale. Richard Abbot
Richard Abbot (1818 – 15 July 1904) was an English poet. He was born in Burton-in-Kendal, Westmorland (now Cumbria). His father worked as a subcontractor on the Lancaster and Kendal Canal, which was then being extended to Tewitfield. His mother died when he was three years old. Abbot's initial education, from the age of four, was undertaken at Dame schools in Shap Fell and Galgate, Lancashire, before he studied at a National school in Ingleton, North Yorkshire. When the family was in Ingleton, Abbot's father began farming on the fells of Ingleborough, and from the age of 11, Abbot assisted him as a shepherd. Around 5 years later, his father suffered a serious accident that affected his sight and brain function, forcing him to end his farming business. Abbot gained new employment as a labourer on the construction of railways in Scotland, and parts of northern England. At the age of 50, he became the manager of a limestone quarry in the parish of Forcett, North Yorkshire. H ...
