Riccò del Golfo di Spezia ( lij, Ricò, lat, Ricotium) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of La Spezia in the Italian region Liguria, located about southeast of Genoa and about northeast of La Spezia. Physical Geography The territory of Riccò del Golfo lies in the southernmost part of the middle and lower val di Vara, in the minor valley of the Riccò affluent of the Vara River, behind the Gulf of La Spezia. The territory is part of the Regional Nature Park of Montemarcello-Magra-Vara. A woodland path, which passes by the village of Casella and the Sella della Cigoletta, marked as number 7 by the CAI, affords a connection with Vernazza and thus the coast of the Cinque Terre. The Club Alpino Italiano is the senior Italian alpine club which stages climbing competitions, operates alpine huts, marks and maintains paths, and is active in protecting the Alpine environment. Brugnato ( lij, Brugnæ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of La Spezia in the Italian region Liguria, located about southeast of Genoa and about 15 km northwest of La Spezia. Gulf Of La Spezia
The Gulf of La Spezia (Italian: ''Golfo della Spezia'' or ''Golfo dei poeti'') is a body of water on the north-western coast of Italy and part of the northern Tyrrhenian Sea, specifically of Ligurian Sea. It measures some 4.5 (length) by 3-3.5 (width) kilometers. The gulf is named for the Italian city of La Spezia, located at its middle point, which is also the main military and cargo port in the gulf, including several arsenals of the Italian Marina Militare. The Vara is a river of the Province of La Spezia in Liguria, north-west Italy. Geography The river runs through Varese Ligure, Brugnato, Borghetto di Vara and Castiglione di Vara. At it is the longest river in Liguria.
