Ricardo Llerandi
Ricardo J. Llerandi Cruz is a Puerto Rican politician who served as Chief of Staff of Puerto Rico in 2019. Llerandi is affiliated with the New Progressive Party (PNP). He was elected to the Puerto Rico House of Representatives in 2012 to represent District 14. After being reelected in 2016 in that election, he resigned to lead the Puerto Rico Trade and Export Company. Llerandi resigned his position as Chief of Staff on July 23, 2019 following his involvement in the Telegramgate scandal. Before entering politics, Llerandi worked as an accountant, notary, and civil attorney in the field of medical malpractices. The Chief of Staff of Puerto Rico ( es, Secretario de la Gobernación de Puerto Rico) is the highest-ranking officer in the executive branch of the government of Puerto Rico after the governor and the secretary of state. The Chief of Staff leads the Secretariat of Governance and is charged with managing and overseeing almost all executive agencies while assisting and advising the governor. WIPR-TV (channel 6) is a non-commercial educational public television station in San Juan, Puerto Rico, owned by the '' Corporación de Puerto Rico para la Difusión Pública'' (English: Puerto Rico Public Broadcasting Corporation). ''El Nuevo Día'' (English: ''The New Day'') is the newspaper with the largest circulation in Puerto Rico. It was founded in 1909 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and today it is a subsidiary of GFR Media. Ricardo Antonio Rosselló Nevares (; born March 7, 1979) is a Puerto Rican politician who served as the governor of Puerto Rico from 2017 to 2019. He resigned on August 2, 2019, after protests related to the Telegramgate scandal. He is the son of former governor of Puerto Rico and pediatric surgeon Pedro Rosselló. In 2010, Rosselló founded the political advocacy group ''Boricua ¡Ahora Es!'' to advocate for changing the current political status of Puerto Rico. Rosselló supports Puerto Rican statehood. The 2016 Puerto Rican general elections were held in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 to elect the officials of the Puerto Rican government that will serve from January 2017 to January 2021, most notably the Governor of Puerto Rico.
