Ricardo Arredondo
Ricardo Arredondo (May 26, 1949 in Apatzingan, Michoacán, Mexico – September 20, 1991) was a Mexican professional boxer. A former WBC super featherweight champion, he was the brother of two-time World light welterweight champion, Rene Arredondo. Pro career Arredondo turned pro in 1968 and in 1971 challenged Hiroshi Kobayashi for the WBA super featherweight title, but lost a decision. WBC Championship Later that year he took on Yoshiaki Numata for the WBC Super Featherweight title, and captured the belt with a KO victory. He defended the belt five times before losing it to Kuniaki Shibata via decision in 1974. Ricardo Arredondo Calmache (23 October 1850 – 1911) was a Spanish painter who specialized in landscapes and costumbrista scenes; known for his meticulous attention to detail. Biography He was born in Cella. His father was a veteran of the First Carlist War. His uncle was a priest who later became a canon in Toledo. With his support, the family moved to Toledo when Arredondo was twelve years old. Super featherweight, also known as junior lightweight, is a boxing weight classes, weight division in professional boxing, contested between and . The super featherweight division was established by the New York Walker Law in 1920, although first founded by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) in 1930. Kuniaki Shibata
Kuniaki Shibata (柴田 国明, born March 29, 1947, in Hitachi, Japan) is a Japanese former professional boxer who competed from 1965 to 1977. He is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBC and ''The Ring featherweight titles from 1970 to 1972, the WBA and ''The Ring'' super-featherweight titles in 1973, and the WBC super-featherweight title from 1974 to 1975. Biography Shibata won his debut match in 1965 with a first-round knockout, and fought for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation featherweight title in 1969, but lost by sixth-round knockout. In April 1970 he challenged for the vacant Japanese featherweight title, and won by tenth-round knockout. He relinquished the title to challenge WBC featherweight champion Vicente Saldivar, and won the title when Saldivar gave up after the twelfth round. He made his first defense by first-round knockout, and retained his title in his second defense with a draw, but lost to Clemente Sanchez in May, 1972. ... Yoshiaki Numata
is a former world Junior Lightweight boxing champion. Numata turned professional in 1962 and won the Lineal, WBC and WBA super featherweight world titles by defeating Flash Elorde by decision in 1967, although Numata was knocked down in the 3rd round. He lost the title in his first defense to Hiroshi Kobayashi by KO in the 12th. Numata was down once in the 6th and three times in the 12th round. In 1970 Numata captured the WBC super featherweight title with a decision over Rene Barrientos. He defended the title three times before losing the belt to Ricardo Arredondo in 1971. Numata retired a year later.
