Ricardo Alonso
Ricardo Alonso was a soccer player who began as a forward before moving to defender later in his career. Alonso spent six seasons in the North American Soccer League, four in Major Indoor Soccer League, at least three in the American Indoor Soccer Association, one in the American Soccer League and two in the American Professional Soccer League. He was born in Argentina. Outdoor NASL Alonso signed with the Minnesota Kicks of the North American Soccer League in 1979 and spent three seasons with the team. He then moved to the Jacksonville Tea Men for the 1982 season. That year, he scored twenty-one goals in thirty games, earning first team All Star recognition. In 1983, he signed with the Chicago Sting when the Tea Men left the NASL. Western Soccer Alliance was a professional soccer league featuring teams from the West Coast of the United States and Western Canada. The league began in 1985 as the Western Alliance Challenge Series. In 1986, it became the Western Soccer Alliance. In 1989, it existed for a single year as the Western Soccer League before merging with the American Soccer League to form the American Professional Soccer League in 1990. Manny Rojas
Manuel Antonio "Manny" Rojas Zúñiga (born June 13, 1954) is a retired football midfielder from Chile, who represented his native country at the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain. His professional career took him from his native Chile to Mexico and ultimately the United States. He spent two seasons in the North American Soccer League, four in the Major Indoor Soccer League, three in the American Indoor Soccer Association and one in the American Soccer League. Rojas also coached the now-defunct Chicago Soul soccer team for the 2012 year before being fired midseason after a 2-7 start. Playing Rojas began his professional club with Chilean First Division club Palestino. He then moved to Mexican Club América for the 1975 season. At some point, he signed with Universidad Católica of Chile and was on their roster for the 1981–82 season. Hayden Knight
Hayden Knight (born March 15, 1957 in Port of Spain, Trinidad) is a retired Trinidad-American soccer defender and current high school soccer coach. He earned three caps with the United States men's national soccer team in 1984. Playing career Youth Knight, a native of Trinidad, moved to the United States with his family when he was a young boy. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. When he was a sophomore, Knight attended high school in Appleton, Wisconsin as part of a program known as 'A Better Chance'. This program placed inner-city youths in rural high schools. He attended Marquette University where he played on the men's soccer team. He holds the team's career scoring record with 52 goals. He also holds the NCAA record for career assists per game with 42 in 44 games. Marquette inducted Knight into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Charlie Fajkus
Charlie Fajkus (born March 4, 1957 in the United States) is a retired American soccer midfielder who spent six seasons in the North American Soccer League and five in the Major Indoor Soccer League. He also earned three caps with the U.S. national team between 1982 and 1985. Youth and college Fajkus grew up in Cicero, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago where he attended Burnham Grade School. He attended Wheaton Central High School from 1973 to 1975. In his time on the Wheaton boys soccer team, he assisted on 56 goals in 43 games which places him fourteenth on the Illinois state high school career list. As a senior, he also led the Tigers Varsity to 2nd Place in the 1974 Illinois State Soccer Tournament (IHSA), dropping the final to New Trier West 1-0 in 4 overtimes. American Professional Soccer League
The American Professional Soccer League (APSL) was a professional men's soccer league with teams from the United States and later Canada. It was formed in 1990 by the merger of the third American Soccer League with the Western Soccer League. It was the first outdoor soccer league to feature teams from throughout the United States since the demise of the North American Soccer League in 1984. The league was sanctioned as Division II in the United States soccer league system but was the country's ''de facto'' top professional soccer league until 1995. In 1993, the APSL applied for the vacant Division I role but lost out to Major League Soccer who would begin play in 1996. For its final two seasons in 1995 and 1996, the APSL changed its name to the A-League. It was subsequently absorbed by the emerging USISL organization with six of seven clubs joining the new USISL A-League in 1997.
