Ribnjak, Novi Sad
Ribnjak ( sr-cyr, Рибњак) is a small neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Name Its name is derived from the Serbian word "" ("fish" in English). In English, the word "" means fishfarm. Geography The neighborhood is located on the Danube river, in the Syrmian part of Novi Sad, between Liberty Bridge and the Petrovaradin fortress, overlooking the Štrand and Liman neighborhood across the river. Ribnjak is situated on the slope hills between the Mišeluk and Trandžament neighborhoods in the east, the river Danube in the west, Sremska Kamenica in the south, and the Petrovaradin fortress in the north. Because the neighborhood is located on a slope, this area is subject to landslides, but they are not severe and are very slow in progress. There are two main roads in the neighborhood, the Lower and Upper Ribnjak Roads. In spring, when the waters of the Danube river rise, the Lower Road and a few houses near the river get flooded. Petrovaradin
Petrovaradin ( sr-cyr, Петроварадин, ) is a historic town in the Serbian province of Vojvodina, now a part of the city of Novi Sad. As of 2011, the urban area has 14,810 inhabitants. Lying on the right bank of the Danube, across from the main part of Novi Sad, it is built around the Petrovaradin Fortress, historical anchor of the modern city. Name Petrovaradin was founded by the Celts, but its original name is unknown. During Roman administration it was known as ''Cusum''. After the Romans conquered the region from the Celtic tribe of Scordisci, they built the Cusum fortress where present Petrovaradin Fortress now stands. Mišeluk ( sr, Мишелук) is a neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad in Serbia. Geography Mišeluk is located in Syrmian part of Novi Sad, between Petrovaradin and Sremska Kamenica. Liman, Novi Sad
Liman ( sr-Cyrl, Лиман) is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. It is located to the south of the city centre, along the Danube river, covering an area of 3.98 km2. It is a relatively new part of the city, built between 1960s and 1990s on what previously were marshes. It is divided into four parts, numbered by Roman numerals: Liman I (with University campus), II, III and IV, which match the chronology of its development. Štrand ( sr-cyr, Штранд) is a popular beach on the Danube river in Novi Sad, Vojvodina, Serbia. It is located near the Liberty Bridge, in the city quarter known as Liman.
