Riaño, León
Riaño is a former small municipality located along the Esla River in the mountains of the province of León, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, northern Spain. The village was across the river from Peak Gilbo. Located 3650 feet above sea level, it is in the Cantabrian mountains near the foothills of the Picos de Europa. Due to planned construction of a dam and reservoir in the 1980s, for flood control and generation of hydroelectric power, the village and its lowlying farmland were to be submerged, as were six other villages in the associated dam project. Province Of León
León (, , ; ; ) is a province of northwestern Spain in the northern part of the Region of León and in the northwestern part of the autonomous community of Castile and León. About one quarter of its population of 463,746 (2018) lives in the capital, León. The climate is dry, cold in winter and hot in summer. Leonese Dialect
Leonese ( ast-leo, Llionés, ast, Lleonés) is a set of vernacular Romance language varieties currently spoken in northern and western portions of the historical region of León in Spain (the modern provinces of León, Zamora, and Salamanca) and a few adjoining areas in Portugal. In this narrow sense, Leonese is distinct from the dialects grouped under the Asturian language. There is no real linguistic division, though; it is only a purely political and identitary division, as dialectal areas (western, central, eastern...) are in fact shaped along a north-south axis (thus encompassing lands both north and south of the mountains, both in Asturias and in Castile and León). The Kingdom of León; es, Reino de León; gl, Reino de León; pt, Reino de Leão; la, Regnum Legionense; mwl, Reino de Lhion was an independent kingdom situated in the northwest region of the Iberian Peninsula. It was founded in 910 when the Christian princes of Asturias along the northern coast of the peninsula shifted their capital from Oviedo to the city of León. Manuel María Arias Domínguez (born 26 April 1956 in Riaño, León, Spain) better known as Imanol Arias, is a Spanish actor and film director. Career Imanol Arias began his career with a travelling theatre group performing in the Basque Country of northern Spain. He debuted on TV in 1976 and his first film was Humberto Solás's ''Cecilia'' (1982). In 1987 he won the prize at the San Sebastian Film Festival for the role of Eleuterio Sánchez in '' El Lute: Run for Your Life'' (El Lute: camina o revienta, 1987). Since 1976 he has appeared in some 70 different films and TV programmes. In 1996 he made his film debut as director in ''Un asunto privado''. The only other work he directed was a TV programme in 1989.
