Rhoemetalces I
Rhoemetalces I (Sapaean) ( grc, Ῥοιμητάλκης) was king of the Sapaean kingdom of Thrace from 15 BC to 12 AD. He was king of Odrysian kingdom of Thrace in succession to his nephew Rhescuporis II (Astaean). Rhoemetalces I was a loyal ally to the first Roman Emperor Augustus. He was a direct descendant of the Thracian King Cotys I (Sapaean), and the middle child of the earlier Thracian king Cotys II (Sapaean). His younger brother was Rhescuporis II (Sapaean); his sister married to Cotys VII (Astaean). When Cotys VII died about 48 BC Rhoemetalces I became the guardian of his nephew Rhescuporis II (Astaean), his sister's young son and heir. Rhescuporis II (Astaean) died in 13 BC, when he was defeated and slain in battle by Vologases, chief of the Thracian Bessi, who was a leader in the revolt against the Romans in that year. During this revolt Rhoemetalces I and his family fled Thrace, returning only when it ended, when Augustus returned the kingdom to his family. As ... Rhoemetalces II
Rhoemetalces II was a Client Ruler in association with his mother Antonia Tryphaena of the Sapaean kingdom of Thrace under the Romans. He ruled from 19 until 38 AD. Rhoemetalces III
Rhoemetalces III ( grc-gre, Ῥoιμητάλκης) was a King of the Sapaean Thracians. He was the son of the Monarch Rhescuporis II. In association with his wife Pythodoris II (daughter of his cousin Cotys III), they were client rulers of the Sapaean kingdom of Thrace under the Romans from AD 38 to 46, in succession to Pythodoris’ mother Tryphaena and Pythodoris' brother Rhoemetalces II. Rhoemetalces III was murdered in 46, by insurgents or on the orders of his wife. The subsequent fate of Pythodoris II is unknown; it seems he did not have any children with his cousin. Thrace became incorporated into the Roman Empire as a province. Remetalk Point on Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica is named after him. Tiberius Julius Rhoemetalces
Rhoemetalces, also known as Rhoimetalces ( el, Τιβέριος Ἰούλιος Ροιμητάλκης, fl. 2nd century AD; died 153), was a Roman client king of the Bosporan Kingdom. Life When Cotys II died in 131, Rhoemetalces succeeded him as king. The relationship between Rhoemetalces and previous kings is not known, though it is possible that he was a son of Cotys II. Rhoemetalces ruled as Bosporan king from 131 until 153. He was a contemporary to the rule of the Roman Emperors Hadrian and Antoninus Pius. On coinage his royal title is in Greek: ''ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΡΟΙΜΗΤΑΛΚΟΥ'' ("of King Rhoemetalces"). According to the ''Historia Augusta'', at an unknown date in the reign of Antoninus Pius, Rhoemetalces travelled to Rome for a hearing of a dispute between him and the imperial commissioner.
