The Rhode Island Department of Administration, RIDOA, is a department level agency of the Government of Rhode Island. Functions and responsibilities The RIDOA's responsibilities include the development and administration of the $7.5 billion State budget; determining and maintaining standard specifications for purchases, contracts, bids and awards for State purchases; maintenance and upkeep and procurement of State facilities; administration of the statewide planning program and overall personnel administration and management of State departments and agencies and the negotiation of State employee union contracts. The department, headed by the Director of Administration, has seventeen programmatic functions. Providence is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island. The government of the state of Rhode Island is prescribed from a multitude of sources; the main sources are the Rhode Island Constitution, the General Laws, and executive orders. The governmental structure is modeled on the Government of the United States in having three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) is a state agency of Rhode Island, headquartered in Downtown Providence. The agency provides services for children and families. Juvenile corrections The agency is responsible for the state's juvenile corrections. The Rhode Island Training School (RITS) is a secure residential facility for juvenile delinquents. The facility is also known as the Rhode Island Youth Development Center. RITS is located in Cranston. A previous facility, with separate facilities for adjudicated boys and girls, was constructed in the 1960s. By the 2000s, there were so few girls adjudicated in Rhode Island that they lived together in one unit and shared day schedules with boys.
