Rhiane Smith
Rhiane Andrew Smith (born 17 May 1974) is a New Zealand former cricketer. He played six first-class and 11 List A matches for Otago between the 1992–93 and 1995–66 seasons. Owaka
Owaka is a small town in the Clutha District of South Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand. It is the largest community in the rugged, forested Catlins area, close to the border with Southland, some south of Balclutha on the Southern Scenic Route. Geography Owaka lies to the north of Catlins Lake, an estuarial widening in the Catlins River which is largely mudflats at low tide. The mouth of the river, shared with the smaller Owaka River, lies to the southeast of the town. Clutha District is a local government district of southern New Zealand, with its headquarters in the Otago town of Balclutha. The Otago Country cricket team represents the Central Otago and South Otago regions of New Zealand. It competes in the Hawke Cup. Its parent organisation is the Otago Country Cricket Association, which is based in Alexandra. Central Otago The Central Otago Cricket Association was formed in 1946. It achieved Minor Association status with the New Zealand Cricket Council in 1956. Central Otago competed in the Hawke Cup from 1963 to 2006. Hawke Cup
The Hawke Cup is a non-first-class cricket competition for New Zealand's district associations. Apart from 1910–11, 1912–13 and 2000–01 the competition has always been on a challenge basis. To win the Hawke Cup, the challengers must beat the holders, either outright or on the first innings in a drawn match, on the holders' home ground. Teams from New Zealand's four main centres, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, have not usually competed for the Hawke Cup, although they did participate in the latter half of the 1990s. They were excluded again from the 2000–01 season. From 2000 to 2010 the team from Hamilton, New Zealand's fourth-largest urban area, was the most successful. The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten wins in The Ford Trophy and the Super Smash four times. The side currently play their home games at Eden Park Outer Oval. The limited overs side, known as the Auckland Aces, have a predominantly light blue kit with a navy and white trim.
