Rhema Soul
Rhema Soul, is a Christian hip hop trio from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, consisting of Butta-P, JuanLove, and K-Nuff. They started as a band with the 2007 independent release ''Worn Soles''. Good City Music released the trio's second album ''Dope Beats Good News: The EP'' in 2008, ''Fingerprints'' in 2010 and ''Red'' in 2012. The band collaborated with Gawvi on their fifth album ''Dope Beats, Good News Vol. 2'', which was released by Good City Music on October 8, 2013. Fort Lauderdale () is a coastal city located in the U.S. state of Florida, north of Miami along the Atlantic Ocean. Christian hip hop (originally gospel rap, also known as Christian rap, gospel hip hop or holy hip hop) is a subgenre of contemporary Christian music and hip hop music. It emerged from urban contemporary music and Christian media in the United States during the 1980s. Christian hip hop music first emerged on record in 1982 with a track entitled "Jesus Christ (The Gospel Beat)" by Queens, New York artist McSweet. Urban/contemporary gospel is a modern subgenre of gospel music. Although the style developed gradually, early forms are generally dated to the 1970s, and the genre was well established by the end of the 1980s. The radio format is pitched primarily to African-Americans. Christian hip hop can be considered a subtype of this genre. Gabriel Alberto Azucena who goes by the stage name GAWVI, formerly G-Styles, is an American Christian hip hop artist and music producer, formerly for Reach Records. He was born on September 23, 1988 in the Bronx, New York. He has released three extended plays, five albums, and twenty-three singles including his songs; "In the Water" and "Late Nights."
