Rhein-Hellweg-Express
The Rhein-Hellweg-Express (RE 11) is a Regional-Express service in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), running from Hamm via Dortmund, Bochum, Essen, Duisburg and Düsseldorf Airport to Düsseldorf Hbf. It is named after the Rhine and the Westphalian Hellweg. The line is part of the Rhine-Ruhr Express (RRX) network and is operated by National Express. History In 1988 the first regular interval regional rapid train service was established from Dortmund via Essen, Duisburg and Düsseldorf to Cologne. This operated hourly on the Cologne–Duisburg and Dortmund–Duisburg lines, which even then were the most important railway lines for passenger traffic in North Rhine-Westphalia. With the introduction of high-speed regional services in the early 1990s, this line was named the NRW-Express (originally numbered RSB 1; from 1995 it was redesignated as Stadt-Express line SE 1) and ran from Bielefeld via Hamm, Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Cologne to Aachen. Soest (Germany) Station
Soest station is a passenger station in the city of Soest in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Hamm–Warburg and the Dortmund–Soest lines. It was also served by passenger trains on the Möhne Valley Railway (''Möhnetalbahn'') from 1899 to 1960. Train services It is served by occasional Intercity services. Warburg (Westfalen) Station
The Warburg station (german: Bahnhof Warburg (Westfalen) or ''Bf Warburg (Westf)'') is located on the north-eastern edge of the German town of Warburg. The station was built in 1852 and 1853. Warburg and Minden stations are the last stations from the early railway history of the Prussian province of Westphalia that are still in their original form as island stations (''Inselbahnhöfen''), with the station entrance buildings located between the tracks. Location The station is located at Warburg on the double track and electrified Hamm–Warburg line to Hamm, the Frederick William Northern Railway to Kassel and the non-electrified Upper Ruhr Valley Railway to Hagen. Kamen Station
Kamen station is a station in the city of Kamen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Dortmund–Hamm railway. The line has only two tracks through Kamen, although quadruplication is planned, but its realisation is far away. Kamen station is an architectural monument built by the Cologne-Minden Railway Company in 1847. It was extensively refurbished in the late 1990s as part of a project called ''Internationale Bauausstellung'' (international building exhibition) ''Emscher Park'' and a bike parking area (one of the first in North Rhine-Westphalia) was built. Wattenscheid Station
Wattenscheid station is on the Witten/Dortmund–Oberhausen/Duisburg railway. It is one of two stations in the formerly independent city of Wattenscheid, now a district of the city of Bochum in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The other station is Wattenscheid-Höntrop. In late 2007, Wattenscheid station was downgraded to a ''Haltepunkt'' (literally “halt”, meaning that it is not a rail junction and has no sets of points). Essen Hauptbahnhof (German for "Essen main station") is a railway station in the city of Essen in western Germany. It is situated south of the old town centre, next to the A 40 motorway. It was opened in 1862 by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn. However, the station was not the first in Essen: as the station called ''Essen'' (today Essen-Altenessen) on the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn was opened in 1847. The station suffered extensive damage in World War II and was almost completely rebuilt in the 1950s and 1960s. National Express Germany is a railway operator in Germany. A subsidiary of National Express, it commenced trading in December 2015. Mülheim (Ruhr) Hauptbahnhof is a railway station for the city of Mülheim in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was renamed as a Hauptbahnhof in 1974 at the time of the rebuilding of the Dortmund–Duisburg line as part of the establishment of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. Duisburg Hauptbahnhof
Duisburg Hauptbahnhof is a railway station in the city of Duisburg in western Germany. It is situated at the meeting point of many important national and international railway lines in the Northwestern Ruhr valley. Lines The station is situated at the northern end of the relatively straight Cologne–Duisburg Railway, Duisburg to Düsseldorf railway line which has to cope with one of the highest daily loads in continental Europe. This line is slated to be widened to six tracks in the near future. Currently it has four—and in some places five—tracks. Rheinhausen Station
Rheinhausen station is located in the Duisburg suburb of Rheinhausen in the Lower Rhine region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies on the Duisburg-Ruhrort–Mönchengladbach railway and is the starting point of the Lower Rhine Railway towards Xanten. Location The station is not in central Rheinhausen, but in the suburb of Friemersheim. However, Friemersheim was incorporated into the new city of Rheinhausen in 1934 and has been part of the Duisburg borough of Rheinhausen since 1975. In front of the station is a shopping mall, which leads to Friemersheim market. The Kruppsee (lake) and its environs is a recreation area next to the line towards Krefeld. Lippstadt Station
Lippstadt station is a stop for long-distance services on the Mid-Germany Railway (german: Mitte-Deutschland-Verbindung) in the town of Lippstadt in the district of Soest, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Hamm–Warburg and the Munster–Warstein railways. Until 1979, the Rheda Railway also branched off to Rheda. Bochum Hauptbahnhof is a railway station for the city of Bochum in western Germany. In its current incarnation, it was built from 1955 to 1957 and is one of the most notable 1950s railway stations in Germany. The station underwent extensive remodeling and modernisation from 2004 to 2006 and was officially reopened on 29 May 2006.
