''Rhadinoloricaria'' is a genus of catfish endemic to South America. It was considered to be monotypic until the 2020 discovery of a second species. ''Rhadinoloricaria'' is part of the ''Pseudohemiodon'' group of the tribe Loricariini in the subfamily Loricariinae Loricariinae is a subfamily of the family Loricariidae of catfish (order Siluriformes). This subfamily is divided into two tribe (biology), tribes and about 30 genus, genera. They are mainly native to freshwater habitats in South America, but the .... '' Apistoloricaria'' and '' Crossoloricaria'' include fish that are very similar to ''Rhadinoloricaria'', and it has been proposed that the former two genera be synonymized with the latter. ''Rhadinoloricaria macromystax'' is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae and the genus ''Rhadinoloricaria''. The genus was monotypic until 2020, when a new species, '' R. stewarti,'' was described. ''Rhadinoloricaria macromystax'' is native to Ecuador and Peru, where it occurs in the upper Amazon and Orinoco River basins, as well as the Essequibo and Tocantins Tocantins () is one of the 26 states of Brazil. It is the newest state, formed in 1988 and encompassing what had formerly been the northern two-fifths of the state of Goiás. Tocantins covers and had an estimated population of 1,496,880 in 20 ... drainages. It is known to occur over sandy substrates. The species reaches a length of 14.2 centimetres (5.6 in) in standard length. It is relatively unknown and uncommon in museum collections, and ecological and behavioral data is unavailable for this species.
