The 2022 ''Rey de Reyes'' (Spanish for "2022 King of Kings") was a professional wrestling tournament and supercard event produced by the Mexican Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) promotion. It was held on February 19, 2022, at Estadio Universitario Beto Ávila in Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico. The 2022 event was the 25th '' Rey de Reyes'' show and tournament. The card comprised eight matches, including one dark match. In the main event, Hijo del Vikingo defeated Johnny Superstar (who previously appeared in AAA as Johnny Mundo) to retain the AAA Mega Championship. Bandido (born April 17, 1995) is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'' ( masked professional wrestler) who is primarily known for his work in the promotions Lucha Libre Elite (LLE), The Crash Lucha Libre and Dragon Gate (DG). He is also a former one time ROH World Champion. Bandido is currently signed to AEW. He is a fourth-generation wrestler, a relative of Apóstol Jr., Myzteziz Jr., and cousin of Magia Blanca. Bandido's real name is not publicly known, which is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico. Lucha libre (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term used in Latin America for professional wrestling. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere. AAA Reina De Reinas Championship
The AAA Reina de Reinas Championship (literally "AAA Queen of Queens Championship", "AAA Women's Championship") is a singles women's professional wrestling championship promoted by Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). It is the only females championship currently in AAA. Being a professional wrestling championship, it is not won legitimately; it is instead won via a scripted ending to a match or awarded to a wrestler because of a storyline. From its creation in 1999 to 2009, the title was put on the line every year during the eponymous "Reina de Reinas" tournament, in addition to traditional defenses. Lady Shani (born March 2, 1993) is the ring name of a Mexican ''Lucha libre, luchadora wrestling mask, enmascarada'', or masked professional wrestling, professional wrestler, currently under contract with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
