Rex Solomon
Rex Solomon (born March 1966) is an American jewelry store owner and former capella directory publisher. Biography Rex Solomon a fifth generation Texan, was born in March 1966, and raised in Houston, attending Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Ma. He is a grandson of notable Harvard psychiatrist Philip Solomon, and the step grandson of his second wife, U.S. Senator Maurine Brown Neuberger, son of landscape photographer Andrew Solomon & Dana Donsky Solomon, nephew of music critic/writer Linda Solomon and brother of filmmaker Keith Solomon. A 1988 graduate of Brandeis University, also studied at Tufts University and Harvard University. He was a founding member of the first fraternity at Brandeis University, the Lambda Beta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi. While at Brandeis was the founding president of the Barrister News, an independent weekly paper serving the university. ''A cappella'' (, also , ; ) music is a performance by a singer or a singing group without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. The term ''a cappella'' was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato musical styles. In the 19th century, a renewed interest in Renaissance polyphony, coupled with an ignorance of the fact that vocal parts were often doubled by instrumentalists, led to the term coming to mean unaccompanied vocal music. The Contemporary A Cappella Society (of America), or CASA, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to fostering and promoting a cappella music of all styles around the world. Deke Sharon
Deke Sharon (born December 12, 1967) is an American singer, arranger, composer, director, producer and teacher of a cappella music, and is one of the leaders and promoters of the contemporary a cappella community. He has been referred to as "the father of contemporary a cappella" by some authors, and "the godfather of a cappella" by others. Early life Deke Sharon was born and raised in San Francisco. He started singing in choir groups at age five, including the San Francisco Boys Chorus. He attended Town School for Boys and San Francisco University High School, where he sang lead (second tenor) in the barbershop quartet his freshman year in "The Music Man," and kept it going all four years, learning to direct and arrange a cappella. Williston Northampton School
Williston Northampton School (simply referred to as Williston) is a private, co-educational, day and boarding college-preparatory school in Easthampton, Massachusetts, United States. It was established in 1841. History Williston Seminary was founded by Samuel Williston (1795–1874), a wealthy button manufacturer, in February 1841; the school opened that December, with a dedication address by Mark Hopkins, president of nearby Williams College. The idea of opening a new academy in the neighborhood had been in the air ever since the closing in 1834 of the Round Hill School in nearby Northampton.
