Rex Cramphorn
Rex Roy Cramphorn (sometimes identified by the variant Cramphorne) (10 January 194122 November 1991) was an Australian theatre director, costume designer, theatre critic, theorist and translator, active in the 1970s and 1980s. Freelance director and theatre critic Cramphorn was one of a generation of theatre directors who emerged in Australia in the 1960s. He aspired to establish a permanent Australian performance ensemble, multi-skilled and committed, such as had been done by the Polish theatre guru Jerzy Grotowski with whom he worked for a time, but there was not the audience, the assured funding nor the interest in Cramphorn's preference for non-commercial projects to achieve this. As a freelance director he was involved in some 55 theatre productions around Australia in the 1970s and 1980s. He was resident director at Melbourne's Playbox Theatre in the early 1980s. Nicholas Paul Enright AM (22 December 1950 – 30 March 2003) was an Australian dramatist, playwright and theatre director. Early life Enright was born on 22 December 1950 to a prosperous professional Catholic family in East Maitland, New South Wales. He was drama captain of St Ignatius' College, Riverview in Sydney in 1964, where, like Gerard Windsor and Justin Fleming, he was taught by Melvyn Morrow. At that school, he won the 1sts Debating Premiership in both 1966 and 1967. During 1971 and 1972 Enright was a member of Sydney's Genesian Theatre, performing in ''A Doll's House'' and ''Uncle Vanya'', and directing ''London Assurance''. Katharine Brisbane AM (born 1932) is an Australian journalist and publisher, well known for her writings as a theatre critic. Early life and education Katharine Brisbane was born in Singapore in 1932, to David Williams, a civil engineer, and Myra Glady Brisbane. She spent her early years growing up in Western Australia, living in Peppermint Grove. Brisbane graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia. During her time at UWA she participated in student theatre, firstly designing costumes and then moving onto directing productions. James David Sharman (born 12 March 1945) is an Australian director and writer for film and stage with more than 70 productions to his credit. David Malouf
David George Joseph Malouf AO (; born 20 March 1934) is an Australian poet, novelist, short story writer, playwright and librettist. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2008, Malouf has lectured at both the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney. He also delivered the 1998 Boyer Lectures.
