Revolver (EP)
''Revolver'' is an EP of outtakes made during the recording sessions of Lewis Black's first album, '' The White Album''. The title is a reference to the album '' ''Revolver'''' by the Beatles. This was done to acknowledge the fact that these were outtakes and different edits from the sessions of Black's earlier release. Release history Originally released as a run of 1000 CDs. A limited ten-inch vinyl edition of 500 was released on yellow and red sunburst vinyl. The vinyl run includes a three-inch CD version of the same material. Notably, the vinyl is mastered with inverted grooves, so it plays from the label to the outer edge; standard vinyl records play from the outer edge towards the label. Lewis Black
Lewis Niles Black (born August 30, 1948) is an American stand-up comedian and actor. His comedy routines often escalate into angry rants about history, politics, religion, or any other cultural trends. He hosted the Comedy Central series ''Lewis Black's Root of All Evil'' and makes regular appearances on ''The Daily Show'' delivering his "The Daily Show recurring elements#Back in Black with Lewis Black, Back in Black" commentary segment, which he has been doing since ''The Daily Show'' was hosted by Craig Kilborn. Stand Up! Records is an American independent comedy record label founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by Grammy-winning producer Dan Schlissel. It has been called "the country's most respected indie comedy label." Stand Up! has released more than 200 comedy albums and videos since its founding in 2000, including albums by Lewis Black, Patton Oswalt, Greg Proops, David Cross, Maria Bamford, Hannibal Buress, Judy Gold, the Sklar Brothers, and Eddie Pepitone. John Machnik
John F. Machnik (born February 14, 1968) is an American record producer and recording engineer from Madison, Wisconsin. He was the owner of Sleepless Nights Recording Studios from 1989 to 2001. Biography In 2000, he started recording comedy for Stand Up! Records, including Mitch Hedberg, Lewis Black "White Album", Lewis Black "Revolver", Lewis Black "End of the Universe", Ron White, Dave Attell, Doug Stanhope, Sklar Brothers, David Cross, Maria Bamford, Judy Gold, Marc Maron, Greg Proops, Dan Naturman, Tom Rhodes, Tim Slagle, Matt Kirshen, Rene Hicks, Jamie Kilstein, Hannibal Buress and Andy Andrist. In 2004, John recorded the Madison stint of the David Cross's "Shut Up, You Fucking Baby!" tour. ''The End of the Universe'' is Lewis Black's second album, recorded at The Punchline in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, on two separate date ranges: August 24–26, 2001 and March 8–10, 2002, and released on July 1, 2002. The title refers to Black's belief that the end of the universe is in Houston, Texas, where two Starbucks coffeehouses are located across the street from each other.
