Revolutionens Datter
''Revolutionens datter'' (The Daughter of the Revolution) is a Norwegian silent film from 1918 directed by Ottar Gladtvet. It has been restored and preserved. Plot The film tells the story of Albert Fjeld, a worker at a shipyard, and Claire Staalhammer, the shipyard manager's daughter. Albert acts as a spokesman for the workers when they make a demand for a pay rise, which Staalhammer rejects. The workers do not accept this, and they start a revolt. Albert, who has fallen in love with Claire, manages to save her when the workers storm the manager's residence, and they flee to a neighboring country, where Claire gets to live with a friend of her father, the landowner Dalton. Dalton's son tries to impress Claire, but she is not interested in him. Claire is eventually told that order has been restored in her home country, and that she has inherited almost a million kroner. Ottar Gladtvet
Alf Ottar Gladtvet (September 1, 1890 – June 9, 1962) was a Norwegian filmmaker and pioneer in the film industry. He made documentaries, feature films, commercials, animated films, newsreels. and many short films. He also worked as a cinema machinist and cinema director. Family Gladtvet was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of the hardware dealer and cinema owner Carl Otto Severin Gladtvet (1863–1918) and Agnes Elisabet Roshauw (1862–?). He was married to the actress Solveig Gladtvet (1903–1951). Feature films Gladtvet directed two feature films in the 1910s. The first feature film was the western-inspired '' Overfaldet paa postaapnerens datter eller Kampen om pengebrevet'' from 1913. Gladtvet was only partly involved in the pioneering days of Norwegian cinema, and he sometimes acted as Peter Lykke-Seest's photographer. Solveig Ingerid Gladtvet (née Olsen, December 12, 1893 – August 4, 1951) was a Norwegian actress. Life and career Solveig Gladtvet was born in 1893 in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. She married the Norwegian filmmaker Ottar Gladtvet in 1914. She appeared in two silent films directed by her husband in the 1910s. She died in 1951. The National Library of Norway ( no, Nasjonalbiblioteket) was established in 1989. Its principal task is "to preserve the past for the future". The library is located both in Oslo and in Mo i Rana.
