Babu Divakaran
Babu Divakaran is an Indian politician and a former Minister from the state of Kerala. He started his political career in the Revolutionary Socialist Party (India), Revolutionary Socialist Party. When the RSP split, he joined the Revolutionary Socialist Party (Bolshevik) along with Baby John, Shibu Baby John, and A.V. Thamarakshan. When the RSP (B) split in 2005, he formed the Revolutionary Socialist Party (Marxist). He is the son of T. K. Divakaran, a veteran RSP leader and former minister of Kerala state. Revolutionary Socialist Party of Kerala (Bolshevik) is formed as a splinter group from RSP in Kerala in 2001. The party leader at the time of its formation was Baby John, formerly an important RSP leader in Kerala. RSP(B) joined the UDF, the alliance in Kerala which is led by the INC. The party won 2 seats in the state assembly, Shibu Baby John and Babu Divakaran, in the 2001 election. Babu Divakaran became the Minister of Labour in the state government. In 2005 RSP(B) left UDF, a decision largely attributed to the party general secretary A. V. Thamarakshan. Babu Divakaran split away and formed the RSP(M). RSP(M) joined in UD RSP(B) merged with JSS in 2009. Alliance and break-up RSP(B) had an alliance with BJP in Kerala since 2014 till 2016 when A.V. Thamarakshan decided to break the alliance and go alone in the 2016 Kerala assembly elections. Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) is a communist party in India. The party was founded on 19 March 1940 by Tridib Chaudhuri and has its roots in the Bengali liberation movement Anushilan Samiti and the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army. The party got around 0.4% of the votes and three seats in the Lok Sabha elections in 1999 and 2004. It is part of the Left Front (West Bengal), Left Front (Tripura) and Congress-led United Democratic Front (Kerala). United Democratic Front (India)
The United Democratic Front (UDF) is the Indian National Congress-led alliance of centre to centre-left, and centre-right, political parties in the Indian state of Kerala. It is one of the two major political alliances in Kerala, the other being Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front, each of which has been in power alternately since 1980 E. K.
