Revolutionary Council (Zanzibar)
The Revolutionary Council along with the Zanzibar House of Representatives make up the semi-autonomous Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. The council's principal role is to advise the President of Zanzibar, who is the Head of government. Zanzibar House Of Representatives
The Zanzibar House of Representatives is the unicameral, subnational legislature of the autonomous islands of Zanzibar in Tanzania. History The current legislature was formed in 1980. Prior to this, the Revolutionary Council held both the executive and legislative functions for 16 years following the Zanzibar Revolution in 1964. Current composition ACT-Wazalendo achieved more than 10% of the vote and thus was included into the Government of National Unity according to the Zanzibar constitution. After a split in the so far strong CUF opposition party, most members and votes had shifted to ACT-W. Composition after the 2016 election The legislature formed in 2016 after the 2016 Zanzibari general elections consisted of 88 members. The President of Zanzibar ( sw, Rais wa Zanzibar) is the head of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, which is a semi-autonomous government within Tanzania. The current president is Hussein Mwinyi. The Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria Faculty of Law, South Africa, is an organisation dedicated to promoting human rights on the continent of Africa. The centre, founded in 1986, promotes human rights through educational outreach, including multinational conferences, seminars and publications such as ''Human Rights Law in Africa'', ''The African Human Rights Law Journal'', the ''African Human Rights Law Reports'' and ''The Constitutional Law of South Africa''. The vice president of Zanzibar ( Swahili: Makamu wa Rais wa Zanzibar) is a political position in Zanzibar. The vice presidency was created by the 2010 amendments made to the Zanzibar Constitution. First Vice President is supposed to come from a political party other than that of the President of Zanzibar. According to the Constitution, the Second Vice President is supposed to be a member of the Zanzibar House of Representatives, and must come from the same political party as the President.
