Revolution (1933 Film)
''Revolution'', ( es, Revolución) also known as ''La sombra de Pancho Villa'', (English: "Pancho Villa's Shadow") is a 1933 Mexican drama film. It was directed by Miguel Contreras Torres, who also starred in the film. The film deals with the Mexican Revolution. It is one of the first Mexican films that dealt with the revolution, and the first sound film to do so. Plot Doroteo, engineering student, is in love with Adelita. However, the strongman of the region, Medrano, also desires the young woman and therefore has Doroteo imprisoned. While he is in jail, his ranch is raided and burned down. In this attack, Doroteo's grandmother is killed and his sister is raped. After being released, Doroteo participates in the revolution and joins Pancho Villa. After being defeated in the Battle of Celaya, he returns home, kills Medrano and marries Adelita. Then he rejoins the revolutionary troops. Emma Roldán (February 3, 1893 – August 29, 1978) was a Mexican character actress and costume designer. She is remembered as the sharp-tongued, domineering matron of Mexican cinema, and was nominated three times for a Silver Ariel Award. Venustiano Carranza
José Venustiano Carranza de la Garza (; 29 December 1859 – 21 May 1920) was a Mexican wealthy land owner and politician who was Governor of Coahuila when the constitutionally elected president Francisco I. Madero was overthrown in a February 1913 right-wing military coup. Known as the ''Primer Jefe'' or "First Chief" of the Constitutionalist faction in the Mexican Revolution, Carranza was a shrewd civilian politician. He supported Madero's challenge to the Díaz regime in the 1910 elections, but became a critic of Madero once Díaz was overthrown in May 1911. Madero did appoint him the governor of Coahuila. When Madero was murdered during the February 1913 counter-revolutionary coup, Carranza drew up the Plan of Guadalupe, a purely political plan to oust Madero's usurper, General Victoriano Huerta.
