Eustace Reveley Mitford
Eustace Reveley Mitford (16 November 1810 – 24 October 1869) was a satirical writer, best known as "Pasquin", prominent in the early days of the Colony of South Australia. History Mitford was born at St Pancras, London, the third of four sons of barrister John Mitford (1772–1851) of the celebrated Mitford family, and his wife Sarah Mitford née Woodward (1784–1836); his grandparents were the historian William Mitford (1743–1827) and his first wife Frances "Fanny" Mitford née Molloy ( –1776). He joined the Royal Navy at an early age, and before long transferred to the Spanish service, and may have subsequently served in the British Army, but no details are available; it seems Mitford though voluble about much else, was reticent about his personal history. Henry Willey Reveley
Henry Willey Reveley (1788–1875) was a civil engineer responsible for the earliest public works at the Swan River Colony, the foundation of the state of Western Australia. Life Reveley was the son of Willey and Maria Reveley (later Gisborne), friends of the Shelleys and Godwins. He was born in England at Reading, Berkshire in 1788. His father was an architect, who assisted Jeremy Bentham in the design of his Panopticon prison. Maria Gisborne (''née'' James, previously Reveley; 1770–1836) was a friend and correspondent of Mary Shelley, Mary and Percy Bysshe Shelley, and William Godwin. Early life Maria James, the daughter of an English merchant at Constantinople, was born in 1770, probably in England.Kaloustian 2007. When she was eight years old, her mother, who had been left in poverty, determined to rejoin her husband and sailed for Constantinople, only to discover that James had established a new household with the wife of one of his skippers. He persuaded his wife to return to England by promising an annuity, but had Maria kidnapped and concealed until her mother's departure. He subsequently brought her up with care, and gave her a good education. She showed a talent for painting, and grew up a beautiful and accomplished woman. Mary Reveley
__NOTOC__ Mary Christiana Reveley (née Allison, 22 September 1940 – 30 October 2017) was an English racehorse trainer. She trained over 2,000 winners in a 26-year career, was the first woman to saddle 100 winners in a calendar year (in 1991), and also became the first female trainer to saddle 50 winners on the flat (in 1992). Career She was born on 22 September 1940 to Harry Allison, a farmer, at Groundhill Farm, Lingdale, Yorkshire, where she lived and trained throughout her life. She started training in 1978 and had her first winner, Hello Louis, on 26 May 1979 in a maiden hunter chase at Cartmel. Her first winner on the flat was King Charlemagne at Edinburgh on 11 July 1983. Willey Reveley
Willey Reveley (1760–1799) was an 18th-century English architect, born at Newton Underwood near Morpeth, Northumberland. He was a pupil of Sir William Chambers, and was trained at the Royal Academy Schools. In 1781-2 he was employed (under Chambers) as assistant clerk of works at Somerset House. Around 1788, Reveley travelled in Greece to make sketches for Sir Richard Worsley. That year, he married Maria James, better known under her later married name of Gisborne as a friend of Mary and Percy Bysshe Shelley. Maria's father opposed the marriage and refused to help the couple financially. They returned to England, where they lived on an income of £140 a year. Their son, Henry Willey Reveley (1788–1875), became a civil engineer and architect in Cape Town and Western Australia. Their other son's name is unknown.
