Revelation (1918 Film)
''Revelation'' is a 1918 American silent drama film directed by George D. Baker and starring Alla Nazimova. The film was produced and distributed through Metro Pictures. A print of the film has been preserved. Plot As described in a film magazine, Joline (Nazimova), a young dancer, attracts the attentions of a young artist, Paul (Bryant), and she consents to pose for him. He receives a commission to paint a picture of the Madonna beside a sacred rose bush at a monastery. Events bring Joline to a realization of her useless life and she leaves Paul to devote the rest of her life to a good cause. The war reunites the two lovers when Paul, a soldier, is wounded and Joline is called on care for him. Bigelow Cooper
Jackson Bigelow Cooper (December 21, 1867 – 1953) was an American stage and screen character actor prominent in the silent film era. Biography Born in Springfield, Ohio in 1867, Cooper's early acting experience came in stock theater, including acting with the first stock company at the Murray Hill Theater in New York City. He began in films in 1911 and worked for such companies as Edison and Vitagraph. In 1915 Cooper and a friend were nearly killed in a road accident when their car overturned trapping them underneath. Eugene Borden (born Élysée Eugène Prieur-Bardin, March 21, 1897 – July 2, 1971) was an American character actor in silent and sound films. Born in France, he immigrated to the United States as a teenager, and entered the film industry a short time later. He appeared in over 150 films, as well as shorts, serials, and television shows. Life and career Born in Paris, France, on March 21, 1897, Borden immigrated to the United States in 1914 at the age of 17. By 1917 he had entered the film industry, appearing in a featured role in Christy Cabanne's ''The Slacker''. Over the next 43 years, Borden appeared in 160 feature films, usually in uncredited roles, many of which were as characters do menial labor, such as headwaiters, porters, pursers and coachmen. Frank Currier
Frank Currier (September 4, 1857 – April 22, 1928) was an American film and stage actor and director of the silent era. Career Similar to Theodore Roberts, Kate Lester, Ida Waterman, and William H. Crane, Currier had a long and successful stage career in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. His youth was spent honing his stagecraft. By the time he started appearing in silent films he was in his 50s and middle-aged. Currier, like Roberts, had a distinctive grandfatherly look as he aged and was respected and beloved by film audiences. Currier appeared in more than 130 films between 1912 and 1928. He also directed 19 films in 1916. He is memorable in the 1925 film '' Ben-Hur'' as the Roman Admiral who adopts Judah Ben-Hur (Ramon Novarro) as his son after Ben-Hur saves his life during a battle at sea. Metro Pictures Corporation was a Film, motion picture production company founded in early 1915 in Jacksonville, Florida. It was a forerunner of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The company produced its films in New York, Los Angeles, and sometimes at leased facilities in Fort Lee, New Jersey, Fort Lee, New Jersey. It was purchased in 1919. History Metro Pictures was founded as a film distribution company in February 1915 by a number of "exchange men" with Richard A. Rowland as president, George Grombacher as vice-president and Louis B. Mayer as secretary. Grombacher owned exchanges in Portland and Seattle. Rowland and Metro's 2nd vice president James B. Clark were from the Roland & Clark company based in Pittsburgh.
