Revathy Krishna
Revathy Krishna () is an Indian vainika renowned for her proficiency in both carnatic classical as well as Light music and film music. Early life Revathy Krishna, born as Revathy Chelvakumar, was the daughter of Chelvakumar and Lakshmi. Revathy's brother, Chandran is now a retired cosmetic surgeon. Hailing from the disciple lineage of composer Thyagaraja, she is the great grand daughter of Thillaisthanam Rama Iyengar, the devoted disciple of saint Thyagaraja. After getting initial training in vocals from Therali Ramaswami Iyengar in Madurai, she picked up veena at the age of 12, and spotting her keen interest, her mother put her under the watchful tutelage of Sundaram Iyer. She later on fine tuned her art under Sharada Shivanandam and K.P.Sivanandam. Film music She also performs in films and film songs on stage, with many audio and video albums to her credit. Carnatic music, known as or in the Dravidian languages, South Indian languages, is a system of music commonly associated with South India, including the modern Indian states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and Sri Lanka. Iyengar
Iyengar (also spelt Ayyangar or Aiyengar, pronounced ) refers to the name of an ethnoreligious community of Tamil-speaking Hindu Brahmins, whose members follow Sri Vaishnavism and the Visishtadvaita philosophy propounded by Ramanuja. Found mostly in the Southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, Iyengars are divided into two denominations, the Vadakalai and the Tenkalai. The community belongs to the Pancha Dravida Brahmana classification of Brahmins in India. Etymology There are several opinions regarding the etymology of the term ''Iyengar'', which is the anglicized form of the Dravidian word ''Aiyaṅgār'' (, ). Thyagaraja
Thyagaraja (Telugu: త్యాగరాజ) (4 May 1767 – 6 January 1847), also known as Thyāgayya and in full as Kakarla Thyagabrahmam, was a composer and vocalist of Carnatic music, a form of Indian classical music. Tyagaraja and his contemporaries, Shyama Shastri and Muthuswami Dikshitar, are regarded as the Trinity of Carnatic music. Thyagaraja composed thousands of devotional compositions, most in Telugu and in praise of Lord Rama, many of which remain popular today, the most popular being "Nagumomu". Of special mention are five of his compositions called the ''Pancharatna Kritis'' ( "five gems"), which are often sung in programs in his honour, and ''Utsava Sampradaya Krithis'' ( Festive ritual compositions), which are often sung to accompany temple rituals. Raj Bhavan (Tamil Nadu), literally the "Governor's Residence," is the official residence of the governor of Tamil Nadu. It is located in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. History The earliest official residence of the Governors of Madras were in Fort St. George, the first one built in the 1640s on what is now the Parade Square. This was pulled down in 1693 and a new one built eastwards where, in later years, it became the core of the Secretariat. When the Governor’s ''garden house'', was destroyed by the French in 1746, a new garden house was acquired for the Governor after the French withdrawal in 1749.
