Reuben Sanford
Reuben Sanford (December 3, 1780 Woodbury, Connecticut – May 19, 1855 Columbus, Ohio) was an American politician from New York. Biography He was the son of Oliver Sanford (1744–1817) and Phebe (Newton) Sanford (1748–1793). About 1800, he removed to that part of Jay, New York which was separated in 1821 as the Town of Dansville, and renamed Wilmington in 1822. On February 16, 1804, he married Polly Lewis (1784–1869), and they had seven children. He was a major of an independent battalion drawn from Essex County, New York, Sanford's Battalion, which was set off from the New York State 9th Regiment of Infantry during the War of 1812. He and his men fought in the Battle of Plattsburgh in September, 1814. He was a member of the New York State Assembly (Essex Co.) in 1814-15, 1816 and 1816-17. Woodbury, Connecticut
Woodbury is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 9,723 at the 2020 census. The town center, comprising the adjacent villages of Woodbury and North Woodbury, is designated by the U.S. Census Bureau as the Woodbury Center census-designated place (CDP). Woodbury was founded in 1673. The center of Woodbury is distinctive because, unlike many New England towns, it is not nucleated. In Woodbury, the older buildings are arrayed in linear fashion along both sides of a road that stretches for over a mile. The public buildings in the National Register Historic District include the First Congregational Church (1818), the Old Town Hall (1846), the United Methodist Church, the St. Paul's Episcopal Church (1785), and the North Congregational Church (1816). The 53rd New York State Legislature, consisting of the New York State Senate and the New York State Assembly, met from January 5 to April 20, 1830, during the second year of Enos T. Throop's governorship, in Albany. Background Under the provisions of the New York Constitution of 1821, 32 senators were elected on general tickets in eight senatorial districts for four-year terms. They were divided into four classes, and every year eight Senate seats came up for election. Josiah Fisk
Josiah Fisk (September 8, 1781 in Haverhill, Grafton County, New Hampshire – August 10, 1844 in Keeseville, Clinton County, New York) was an American politician from New York. Life He was the son of Amos Fisk and Mary (Wheeler) Fisk. In 1806, he married Phebe Peters (1785–1860), and they had seven children. He was a member of the New York State Assembly (Clinton Co.) in 1825 and 1826. He was a member of the New York State Senate (4th D.) from 1832 to 1835, sitting in the 55th, 56th, 57th and 58th New York State Legislatures. He was President of the Temperance Society of Keeseville. Silas or Silvanus (; Greek: Σίλας/Σιλουανός; fl. 1st century AD) was a leading member of the Early Christian community, who according to the New Testament accompanied Paul the Apostle on his second missionary journey.
