Reuben La Fave
Reuben La Fave (September 27, 1915 – March 12, 1995) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate. Biography La Fave was born in Oconto, Wisconsin on September 27, 1915.''The Wisconsin Blue Book''. 1958. Madison: Wisconsin Legislative Reference Bureau, p. 30. During the World War II era, he served as a chief petty officer in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He died due to complications from a stroke in Portage, Wisconsin on March 12, 1995. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. From 1848 to 1853 there were 66 assembly districts; from 1854 to 1856, 82 districts; from 1857 to 1861, 97 districts; and from 1862 to 1972, 100 districts. The Wisconsin Senate is the upper house of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Together with the larger Wisconsin State Assembly they constitute the legislative branch of the state of Wisconsin. The powers of the Wisconsin Senate are modeled after those of the U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Constitution ties the size of the State Senate to that of the Assembly, by limiting its size to no less than 1/4, nor more than 1/3, of the size of the Assembly. Oconto County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 38,965. Its county seat is Oconto. The county was established in 1851. Oconto County is part of the Green Bay, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Green Bay- Shawano, WI Combined Statistical Area. History First visited by French explorers in the 17th century, Oconto County is among the oldest settlements in Wisconsin.
