RETRIEVE
RETRIEVE is a database management system (DBMS) offered on Tymshare's systems starting in August 1971. It was written in Tymshare's own FORTRAN, SUPER FORTRAN on the SDS 940. It offered basic single-file, non-relational database, relational database functionality using an interactive programming language. It is one of the earliest examples of software as a service (SaaS). RETRIEVE was highly influential and spawned a number of relatively direct clones. Wang Laboratories's RECALL on the Wang 2200 minicomputer was almost identical to RETRIEVE, to the point the differences were detailed in a single page. Jet Propulsion Laboratory, JPL made a version known as Jet Propulsion Laboratory Display Information System, JPLDIS for the UNIVAC 1108 in 1973 that was also very similar. Data Retrieval
Data retrieval means obtaining data from a database management system (DBMS), like for example an object-oriented database (ODBMS). In this case, it is considered that data is represented in a structured way, and there is no ambiguity in data. In order to retrieve the desired data the user presents a set of criteria by a query. Then the database management system selects the demanded data from the database. The retrieved data may be stored in a file, printed, or viewed on the screen. A query language, like for example Structured Query Language (SQL), is used to prepare the queries. SQL is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standardized query language developed specifically to write database queries. An image retrieval system is a computer system used for browsing, searching and retrieving images from a large database of digital images. Most traditional and common methods of image retrieval utilize some method of adding metadata such as captioning, keywords, title or descriptions to the images so that retrieval can be performed over the annotation words. Manual image annotation is time-consuming, laborious and expensive; to address this, there has been a large amount of research done on automatic image annotation. Additionally, the increase in social web applications and the semantic web have inspired the development of several web-based image annotation tools. The Retrieval
''The Retrieval'' is a 2013 American drama film written and directed by Chris Eska. The film stars Ashton Sanders, Tishuan Scott, Keston John, Bill Oberst Jr., Christine Horn and Alfonso Freeman. The film was released on April 2, 2014, by Variance Films. The film centers around Will, a Black boy during the American Civil War, and Nate— a Black Union soldier who is the target of bounty hunters. Will has been forcibly pressed into a bounty hunter gang, because his age and assumed innocence are useful in luring unsuspecting targets in.
