Mateo Retegui (born 29 April 1999) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Serie A club Genoa and the Italy national team. He is nicknamed "''il Re tigre''" ("the tiger king"). Early life Retegui holds Italian citizenship, although he was born and raised in Argentina. His maternal grandfather Angelo Dimarco emigrated to Argentina from Canicattì (Sicily). His father's grandparents on one side of the family were also Italian, specifically from Genoa (the other were Basque, hence his surname). He is the son of former field hockey player Carlos Retegui, who represented Argentina as a player and coach at various Pan American Games and Olympic Games. Carlos Retegui
Carlos José Retegui (born 19 December 1969) is an Argentine retired field hockey player, who is nicknamed ''Chapa''. He was a member of the National squad from 1989 to 2006 and competed in three Summer Olympics (1996, 2000 and 2004). In 2006 he was dismissed from the national team by his former teammate and head coach, Sergio Vigil. Between 2008 and 2009 he coached the Argentina men's national field hockey team. In 2009 he succeeded Gabriel Minadeo as coach of the Argentina women's national field hockey team until 2012 when his contract was not renewed. In early 2013 he took up the men's team again, and after the resignation of Emanuel Roggero in late 2013 as the women's coach, he took care of both teams until the 2014 World Cups. Micaela Retegui (born 23 April 1996) is an Argentine field hockey player. She is the daughter of Argentina's hockey coach Carlos Retegui. She plays with the Argentina national field hockey team, winning silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Hockey career In 2019, Retegui was called into the senior national women's team. Julián Retegui Barbería, also known as Retegi II (born in Eratsun, Navarre, Spain on October 10, 1954) is an ex-player of Basque pelota. He is also called "El mago de Eratsun" (Spanish: "The wizard of Eratsun"), since he is considered one of the best Basque pelota players of all time. He played as a foreplayer. Nephew of Juan Ignacio Retegi (another pelotari who won the pelota championship six times, usually known as Retegi I), he started to get interested in the Basque pelota when he was a child. He worked as a stonecutter and in the wood industry.
