2020 Queensland State Election
The 2020 Queensland state election was held on 31 October to elect all 93 members to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The Labor Party was returned to government for a third-term, led by incumbent premier Annastacia Palaszczuk. With 47 seats needed to form a majority government, Labor won 52 seats, including all but five in Brisbane, while the Liberal National Party won 34 seats and formed opposition. On the crossbench, Katter's Australian Party retained its 3 seats, the Queensland Greens picked up South Brisbane for a total of 2, Pauline Hanson's One Nation retained Mirani and independent Sandy Bolton retained her seat of Noosa. At 11pm on 31 October, Liberal National Party leader Deb Frecklington conceded defeat, congratulating Palaszczuk on the election. Shooters, Fishers And Farmers Party
The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party (SFF) is an Australian political party. It primarily advocates for increased funding and services for rural and regional Australia, protecting the right to farm, enhancing commercial and recreational fishing, tougher sentencing for illegal firearm trade and usage, and relaxing gun control for law abiding citizens. The party was formed in 1992, and was known simply as the Shooters Party. It initially operated only in New South Wales, but has since expanded into other states. It was registered with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) in 2007, and contested its first federal election the same year. In July 2009, the party changed its name to the Shooters and Fishers Party, and in April 2016, the name was changed to its current name. Broadwater is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created at the 1991 redistribution. The electorate is based on the northern end of the Gold Coast. It includes South Stradbroke Island as well as Labrador, Paradise Point, Runaway Bay and Sanctuary Cove and Coombabah. Since 2017 the local member has been David Crisafulli of the Liberal National Party. Craig Crawford (politician)
Craig Daryl Crawford (born 17 January 1970) is an Australian politician currently serving as the Queensland Minister for Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships. He has been the Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), Labor member for the Far North Queensland seat of Electoral district of Barron River, Barron River in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2015. Christopher Guy Whiting (born 13 July 1966) is an Australian politician. He has been the Australian Labor Party member for Bancroft in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2017, and previously represented Murrumba from 2015 to 2017. Early life Whiting graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Master of Journalism. Bart John Mellish (born 25 April 1983) is an Australian politician. He has been an Australian Labor Party member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2017, representing the electorate of Aspley. Born in Toowoomba, Queensland, Mellish completed his tertiary education at the University of Southern Queensland completing a Bachelor of Science and post-graduate certificate in Environmental Management, as well as completing a Master of Business Administration, specialising in Environmental Management. Electoral District Of Aspley
Aspley is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The district is located in the north-eastern residential suburbs of Brisbane, encompassing Aspley, Bridgeman Downs and Carseldine, as well as parts of McDowall, Chermside West, Lawnton and Zillmere. It is now wholly within the local government area of Brisbane City Council, following the redistribution prior to the 2009 election. The electorate was created at the 1959 redistribution from the former electorate of Chermside. Aspley was a safe Liberal seat until the collapse of the National-Liberal coalition in Queensland in 1983, when first-term Liberal member Beryce Nelson lost the seat to the Nationals' Brian Cahill a former local newsreader.
