Restiform Bodies (band)
Restiform Bodies is an alternative hip hop trio based in San Francisco, California. It consists of rapping, rapper Passage (rapper), Passage and record producer, producers Bomarr and Telephone Jim Jesus. The band is currently signed to Anticon. History Passage (rapper), Passage and Bomarr (then known as The Bomarr Monk) self-released the album ''Moods & Symptoms'' in 2000. Soon after, Passage formed Restiform Bodies with his high school friends Bomarr and Telephone Jim Jesus. Their self-titled debut album, ''Restiform Bodies (album), Restiform Bodies'', was released on 6months in 2001. In 2002, the band toured across the United States and Canada with Sole (artist), Sole and Kevin Blechdom. Restiform Bodies released their Anticon debut, ''TV Loves You Back'', in 2008. Alternative Hip Hop
Alternative hip hop (also known as alternative rap) is a subgenre of hip hop music that encompasses a wide range of styles that are not typically identified as mainstream. AllMusic defines it as comprising " hip hop groups that refuse to conform to any of the traditional stereotypes of rap, such as gangsta, bass, hardcore, and party rap. Instead, they blur genres drawing equally from funk and pop/rock, as well as jazz, soul, reggae, and even folk." Alternative hip hop developed in the late 1980s and experienced a degree of mainstream recognition during the early-to-mid 1990s. While some groups such as Arrested Development and The Fugees managed to achieve commercial success before breaking up, many alternative rap acts tend to be embraced by alternative rock listeners other than hip-hop or pop audiences. David Bryant, better known by his stage name Passage, is an alternative hip hop rapper based in Oakland, California. He is a member of Restiform Bodies along with Bomarr and Telephone Jim Jesus. History Passage released his official debut album, ''The Forcefield Kids'', on Anticon in 2004. He is also a member of Brothers Backword along with Mike Busse. The duo released the ''Stupid Intelligent'' mixtape in 2009. Matt Valerio, better known by his stage name Bomarr (formerly The Bomarr Monk), is an alternative hip hop hip hop production, producer based in San Francisco, California. He is a member of Restiform Bodies (band), Restiform Bodies along with Passage (rapper), Passage and Telephone Jim Jesus. History Bomarr released the album ''Moods & Symptoms'' with Passage (rapper), Passage in 2000. George Chadwick, better known by his stage name Telephone Jim Jesus, is an alternative hip hop producer based in Oakland, California. He is a member of Restiform Bodies along with Passage and Bomarr. History Telephone Jim Jesus released his debut solo album, ''A Point Too Far to Astronaut'', on Anticon in 2004. His second solo album, ''Anywhere Out of the Everything'', was released on Anticon in 2007. He toured the United States with Sole and the Skyrider Band in the next year. He formed the group Furious Stylz with drummer John Wagner and producer Skyrider.
