Rialto (restaurant)
Rialto was a restaurant in Harvard Square’s Charles Hotel owned by Jody Adams and Michela Larson. Opened in 1994, it closed on June 22, 2016. Originally, it was announced she would leave the restaurant in the hands of executive chef David Ladner but it was later announced it would close down. Yume Wo Katare ( ja, 夢を語れ, translation=Speak Your Dreams) is a ramen shop located at 1923 Massachusetts Avenue in the Porter Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts. It specializes in Jiro-style ramen. The restaurant is known for its service concept: diners are encouraged to share their dreams and aspirations to their fellow diners after finishing their meal. History Yume Wo Katare was opened by Tsuyoshi Nishioka in November 2012. He had previously worked in ramen restaurants in Kyoto to support his career as a comedian, and later owned and ran five Ramen Jiro branches in Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe which he later sold to their managers before relocating to the United States in 2011. Upstairs On the Square, originally UpStairs at the Pudding (because of the original location above Harvard's Hasty Pudding Club), ended “its storied 31-year run” on December 31, 2013. Owned by Mary-Catherine Deibel and Deborah Hughes, the building they were in was being sold by the landlord. Their menu has been described as “adventurous classic European”. In 2012, Hughes' daughter Charlotte Silver published a memoir about growing up at the restaurant, ''Charlotte Au Chocolat: Memories of a Restaurant Girlhood’’. Toscanini's Ice Cream Company (known simply as Toscanini's or Tosci's) is an ice cream parlor and café in Cambridge, Massachusetts, founded in 1981. Tasty Sandwich Shop
The Tasty Sandwich Shop, often called "The Tasty", was a restaurant that operated from 1916 to 1997 near the intersection of JFK Street and Brattle Street, at the center of Harvard Square, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was housed in the Read Block building, on the site of the home of colonial poet Anne Bradstreet. The Tasty closed in 1997, after 81 years in business. Its location was later used by the chain stores Abercrombie & Fitch, then Citizens Financial Group, Citizens Bank and, , a CVS Pharmacy. Description The Tasty was a tiny one-room diner and lunch counter, its customer area no more than seven feet wide and thirty feet deep, with a narrow counter made of yellow linoleum. Café Pamplona
Café Pamplona was located at 12 Bow St. beside the intersection of Bow and Arrow Streets near Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. When it opened in 1959 it was the first café in the Square. The owner, Josefina Yanguas, claimed the café had the first espresso-maker in the city. Down a short flight of exterior stairs, past a patio with tables, customers entered the café's subterranean interior. The once austere decor included bright yellow lights which made the thickly-plastered walls glow under low ceilings, and a black and white checked floor.
