The Research Institute of Brewing and Malting (RIBM) ( cz, Výzkumný ústav pivovarský a sladařský, a.s.) in Czech - was founded in 1887 and since 1994 It has been a joint-stock company. It is one of the oldest scientific research institutes in the Central European region. History On 19 December 1886, the Union for the Establishment and Maintenance of the Research Institute for Brewing Industry in Prague was founded by the General Meeting held in the rooms of the Malting School in Prague. At the beginning of December, the Institute already seated at 871/26 Senovážné Square, Prague. The Institute officially started its activity at the beginning of 1888. In July 1888, the Institute organized the first course for microscopy. In 1891, the Institute took part in the Jubilee Exhibition in Prague. Prague 2, formally the Prague 2 Municipal District (''Městská čast Praha 2''), is a second-tier municipality in Prague. It is co-extensive with the national administrative district (''správní obvod'') of the same name. As of the end of 2004, 48,918 people lived in 34,689 homes in the district.
