Requena Province
The Requena Province is one of the eight provinces in the Loreto Region of Peru. It was created by Law No. 9815 on July 2, 1943 by president Manuel Prado Ugarteche. Its territory is part of the Amazon Rainforest; as such, it is characterized by high temperatures, heavy rainfall and a wide diversity of plants and animals. Requena, Valencia
Requena is a municipality in eastern Spain, in the province of Valencia, located on the left bank of the river Magro. The town used to be a Moorish fortress, occupying a strong position in the mountainous region of Las Cabrillas (1000 metres). It is dominated by the ancient citadel of the Moors, and still has traces of the original town walls. There are three ancient parish churches; San Nicolás, the oldest, dates from the 13th century, but was partly restored in 1727. Near the town are the sulphurous springs of Fuentepodrida. Utiel Requena is a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) for wines located in the province of Valencia (Valencian Community). It takes its name from the two neighbouring towns of Utiel and Requena. It is renowned for the predominant use of the Bobal grape variety. History Archaeological finds in ancient Iberian settlements such as the one at show that grape growing and wine production in the area dates from at least the 7th century BC. In the 1st century BC, the ancient Romans, after defeating the Carthaginians, settled the area and introduced new wine making techniques. During the Moorish dominion of the Iberian Peninsula, wine production was tolerated, even though it was forbidden by the Koran. Cecilia Isabel Requena Zárate (born 5 March 1967) is a Bolivian academic, environmentalist, and politician serving as Chamber of Senators (Bolivia), senator for La Paz Department (Bolivia), La Paz since 2020. Gladys del Valle Requena (9 November 1952) is a Venezuelan politician who has been a member of the National Assembly and minister. She was also a member of the 2017 Constituent National Assembly. Career Requena moved to Vargas with her family looking for a better quality of life. She is a professor of Spanish and literature who graduated from the Instituto Pedagógico de Caracas in 1977, and graduated as a lawyer from the Central University of Venezuela in 1982. Manuel Requena (1802–1876) was a Yucatán-born Californio politician who served multiple terms as Alcalde of Los Angeles (Mayor of Los Angeles). Requena became active in Los Angeles politics in the 1830s, during the Mexican era, and continued serving after the American Conquest of California until his death in the 1850s.
