Republic Of China Naval Academy
The Republic of China Naval Academy (CNA; ) is the service academy for the navy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and is located at Zuoying District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History The academy was originally established as the Chinese Naval Academy at the Gaochang Temple in Shanghai on 16 June 1946. On 1 April 1947, the academy was moved to Tsingtao, Shantung. In April 1949, the academy was moved to Hsiamen, Fukien and to its present location in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in September in the same year. In 1994, the academy began to recruit female cadets for the first time. Lee Chung-wei
Lee Chung-wei (; born 14 December 1952) is a Taiwanese politician and naval Vice Admiral. He is the acting Chairperson of Ocean Affairs Council since 14 January 2019. Education Lee received his bachelor's degree from the Republic of China Naval Academy in 1975 and completed further studies at the National Defense University in the Naval Command and Staff College and the War College in 1987 and 1989, respectively. Political careers Lee was appointed as the Minister of the Coast Guard Administration on 20 May 2016. On 28 April 2018, the Ocean Affairs Council was established and the Coast Guard Administration was placed under it. Lee was then appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of the council. The Republic of China Air Force Academy (CAFA; ) is the service academy for the air force of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and is located in Gangshan District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History Mainland China The Republic of China Air Force Academy was initially established in 1928 in Nanjing as the Central Army Academy's Aviation Corps, then reorganized as the Central Army Academy's Aviation Class in 1929. In 1931, it was moved from Dajiaochang Airport to Jianqiao Airport in Jianggan, Hangzhou, Zhejiang. A year later in 1932, the name was changed to Central Aviation School. The Republic of China Military Academy () is the service academy for the army of the Republic of China, located in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung. Previously known as the the military academy produced commanders who fought in many of China's conflicts in the 20th century, notably the Northern Expedition, the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War. The military academy was officially opened on May 1, 1924, under the Kuomintang (KMT), but the first lessons began on June 16, 1924. The inauguration was on Changzhou Island offshore from the Whampoa (Huangpu) dock in Guangzhou, thus earning its name. Kaohsiung Metro () is a rapid transit and light rail system covering the metropolitan area of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Its rapid transit network is known as Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit or Kaohsiung MRT. Construction of the MRT started in October 2001. The MRT opened in 2008 and the Circular light rail in 2015. World Games Metro Station
World Games is a station on the Red line of Kaohsiung MRT in Nanzih District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The station is named after the World Games 2009. Station overview The station is a four-level, elevated station with two side platforms and four exits. It is 134 meters long and is located at the intersection of Zuonan Rd. and Jhonghai Rd. It was originally planned to be named "Banping Mountain Station", but was changed in July 2005 to its current name. Because it is the first elevated station after the line emerges from underground, the aim was to create an iconic station similar to the Taipei Metro's Jiantan station. Tung Hsiang-lung (; born 21 September 1952) is a Taiwanese politician and retired Admiral. Career He was the commander of the ROCN from 16 May 2011 to 31 July 2013. He was also the Minister of the Veterans Affairs Council (VAC) from 1 August 2013 to 20 May 2016. In early October 2013 during a legislative session, he said the VAC will stop issuing subsidies to ROC veterans that are found to hold PRC citizenship, citing the amendment to article 27 of the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area that was passed in March 2004. He added that the VAC had found a total of 12 veterans who currently reside in Mainland China and hold PRC nationality.
