Renée Valente
Renée Valente Smidt (July 15, 1927 – February 20, 2016) was an American film and television producer, as well as casting executive. Valente produced more than 70 films and television movies, including ''A Storm in Summer'', which earned her a Daytime Emmy Award in 2001. She also received an Emmy nomination 1979 as the producer of the '' Blind Ambition'', a television miniseries which starred Martin Sheen and Rip Torn. Valente became the first female President of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) during the 1980s. She also served as the female Vice President of Screen Gems & Columbia Pictures Television, the first woman to hold that position. Valente, who was from New York, began her career as a part-time secretary for producer David Susskind at his production company, Talent Associates. A Storm In Summer
''A Storm in Summer'' is a 2000 American made-for-television drama film directed by Robert Wise and starring Peter Falk, Andrew McCarthy, Nastassja Kinski, and Ruby Dee. It is the last film to be directed by Wise. Rod Serling's original script had previously been adapted as a 1970 TV film directed by Buzz Kulik starring Peter Ustinov and N'Gai Dixon, and the filmmakers re-used the same script for this production. Serling's script was posthumously honored with an Emmy nomination and a Writers Guild Award. Producer Renee Valente won a Daytime Emmy in 2001 for her work on the film. The Casting Society, formerly known as Casting Society of America (CSA), was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1982 as a professional society of about 1,200 casting directors and associate casting directors for film, television, theatre, and commercials in Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, and the United States. The nonprofit organization announced the name change from Casting Society of America to Casting Society on February 10, 2022. The society is not to be confused with an industry union. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represent most (though not all) of the major casting directors and associate casting directors in Hollywood. Members use the post-nominal letters "CSA" when credited for their work. Julia Ann Harris (December 2, 1925August 24, 2013) was an American actress. Renowned for her classical and contemporary stage work, she received five Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Play. Harris debuted on Broadway in 1945, against the wishes of her mother, who wanted her to be a society debutante. Harris was acclaimed for her performance as an isolated 12-year-old girl in the 1950 play ''The Member of the Wedding'', a role she reprised in the 1952 film of the same name, for which she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. In 1951, her range was demonstrated as Sally Bowles in the original production of ''I Am a Camera'', for which she won her first Tony award. She subsequently appeared in the 1955 film version. Laurence Kerr Olivier, Baron Olivier (; 22 May 1907 – 11 July 1989) was an English actor and director who, along with his contemporaries Ralph Richardson and John Gielgud, was one of a trio of male actors who dominated the Theatre of the United Kingdom, British stage of the mid-20th century. ''The Power and the Glory'' is a 1940 novel by British author Graham Greene. The title is an allusion to the doxology often recited at the end of the Lord's Prayer: "For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever, amen." It was initially published in the United States under the title ''The Labyrinthine Ways''. Greene's novel tells the story of a renegade Catholic ' whisky priest' (a term coined by Greene) living in the Mexican state of Tabasco in the 1930s, a time when the Mexican government was attempting to suppress the Catholic Church.
