René Weber
René Weber (20 May 1933 – August 1982) was a Swiss sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. Weber was born in Zürich and represented the club LC Zürich. At the 1958 European Championships he reached the semi-final in the 400 metres, and competed in the 4 × 100 metres relay with Emil Weber, Erwin Müller and Hans Wehrli. The 400 metres, or 400-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field competitions. It has been featured in the athletics (sport), athletics programme at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1964 for women. On a standard outdoor running track, it is one lap around the track. Runners start in staggered positions and race in separate lanes for the entire course.
