René Botteron
René "Bobo" Botteron (born 17 October 1954, in Glarus) is a Swiss former football midfielder who played for various clubs in Switzerland, Germany and Belgium throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Career Botteron started his professional career at FC Zürich in 1972 and won three League Titles and three Swiss Cups before he left in 1980 to join the 1. FC Köln side of the early 1980s, where he played alongside the likes of Dieter Müller, Bernd Schuster, Tony Woodcock, Rainer Bonhof, Bernhard Cullmann, Klaus Fischer, Klaus Allofs and Stephan Engels. He had a short spell at Standard Liège in 1982, where he helped the side reach the final of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup only to be defeated by FC Barcelona, before signing for 1. FC Nürnberg. In 1983, he returned to Switzerland with FC Basel and retired in 1987 following the club's relegation to the Nationalliga B. Rainer Bonhof
Rainer Bonhof (born 29 March 1952) is a German former professional footballer, who played as a defensive midfielder or wing-back. He was known for his occasional bursts upfield and his fierce shot. He was a key player for the 1974 West Germany national team that won the World Cup (defeating the Netherlands 2–1 in the final, where he provided the assist to the winning goal). Bonhof was one of the stars for his club side, Borussia Mönchengladbach and won numerous domestic league and cup titles. Playing career Bonhof was born in Emmerich am Rhein, North Rhine-Westphalia. He was part of the highly successful Borussia Mönchengladbach side of the 1970s, winning numerous Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Cup titles. The 1981–82 Bundesliga was the 19th season of the Bundesliga, West Germany's premier football league. It began on 8 August 1981 and ended on 29 May 1982. Bayern Munich were the defending champions. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions. The cup was, chronologically, the second seasonal inter-European club competition organised by UEFA. The tournament ran for 39 seasons, with the final edition held in 1998–99, after which it was discontinued. The first tournament was held in 1960–61, but it was organised by the Mitropa Cup's Organising Committee and not recognised by the governing body of European football until 1963, when it was accepted as a UEFA competition on the initiative of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). Stephan Engels
Stephan Engels (born 6 September 1960) is a German former professional football player and manager, who played as a midfielder. In the West German top-flight he scored 39 goals in 236 matches. In 1982-83 Engels won the West German Cup with 1. FC Köln. After retiring he worked as coach for 1. FC Köln (1995–1996) and SCB Viktoria Köln (2004–2005).
