Renzo Tondo
Renzo Tondo (born 7 August 1956) is an Italian politician, former President of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Early life He graduated in Political Sciences at the University of Trieste. He began his career as a hotel keeper. Career First political experiences Tondo moved into politics with the Italian Socialist Party, with whom he was elected mayor of his hometown Tolmezzo from 1990 to 1995. First gubernatorial term In 1998, Tondo became Regional Councilor with Forza Italia. In 2001 he was appointed President of the Regional Council of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. In 2006, Tondo was elected to the Chamber of Deputies. Second gubernatorial term In 2008, Tondo was re-elected President of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, supported by the centre-right coalition, defeating the incumbent governor Riccardo Illy, who was supported by the Democratic Party. The Chamber of Deputies ( it, Camera dei deputati) is the lower house of the bicameral Italian Parliament (the other being the Senate of the Republic). The two houses together form a perfect bicameral system, meaning they perform identical functions, but do so separately. Lega Nord (; acronym: LN), whose complete name is (), is a right-wing, federalist, populist and conservative political party in Italy. In the run-up of the 2018 general election, the party was rebranded as (), without changing its official name. Massimiliano Fedriga (born 2 July 1980 in Verona) is an Italian Northern League politician. He is the president of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia autonomous region. Biography Born in Verona on 2 July 1980 and raised in Trieste, Fedriga graduated in Communication Sciences at the University of Trieste. After graduating, he obtained a master's degree in communication management and analysis. He joined the Northern League in 1995. Subsequently, he became a member of the "National Council", the decision-making body of the party in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and then of the Federal Council. Since 2003 he has been provincial secretary of the League, while on 28 September 2014 he was elected national secretary of the party of Friuli Venezia Giulia. ''Il Piccolo'' is the main daily newspaper of Trieste, Italy. Its name derives from the paper's original ''small'' format. History and profile ''Il Piccolo'' was founded by Teodoro Mayer in 1881. He was also the owner and editor-in-chief of the paper. Mayer and other people who were instrumental in the establishment of the paper were right-wing pro-Italians. The centre-right coalition ( it, coalizione di centro-destra) is an alliance of political parties in Italy, active—under several forms and names—since 1994, when Silvio Berlusconi entered politics and formed his Forza Italia party. Despite its name, the alliance mostly falls on the right-wing of the political spectrum.
