Renee Garing
Renee Garing (born 4 September 1988) is an Australian rules footballer with the Geelong Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Garing was recruited directly from Geelong's VFL Women's team prior to the club's inaugural season in the AFLW. Prior to playing Australian rules football, she played netball with St Mary's–winning the league's best and fairest award three times. Garing made her AFLW debut during the first round of the 2019 season, against Collingwood at GMHBA Stadium. VFL Women's
VFL Women's (VFLW) is the major state-level women's Australian rules football league in Victoria. The league initially comprised the six premier division clubs and the top four division 1 clubs from the now-defunct Victorian Women's Football League (VWFL), and has since evolved into what is also the second primary competition for AFL Women's (AFLW) clubs in Victoria. In the sport of Australian rules football, each of the eighteen players in a team is assigned to a particular named position on the field of play. These positions describe both the player's main role and by implication their location on the ground. As the game has evolved, tactics and team formations have changed, and the names of the positions and the duties involved have evolved too. St Mary's Sporting Club Inc., nicknamed the ''Saints'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the port city of Geelong, Victoria. In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The awards are sometimes dependent on not receiving a suspension for misconduct or breaching the rules during that season. In the Australian Football League (AFL), the Brownlow Medal is awarded to the player who, provided he has not been suspended during the season, receives the most votes from the umpires for being the Fairest and Best player in games during the home and away season.
