Rendsburg-Eckernförde
Rendsburg-Eckernförde (; da, Rendsborg-Egernførde) is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the city of Kiel, the district of Plön (district), Plön, the city of Neumünster, the districts of Segeberg, Steinburg, Dithmarschen and Schleswig-Flensburg, and the Baltic Sea. History In 1867 the Prussian administration established twenty districts in its province of Schleswig-Holstein, among them the districts of Rendsburg and Eckernförde. The present district was established in 1970 by merging the former districts. Geography The district is situated at the coast of the Baltic Sea, roughly between the cities of city of Schleswig, Schleswig and Kiel. A large portion of the Kiel Canal passes through Rendsburg-Eckernförde. It is one of the largest districts in the whole of Germany. Wasbek
Wasbek is a municipality, immediately west of Neumünster, in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Geography Wasbek lies immediately west of Neumünster. In the west the park Aukrug borders the municipality. In the east runs Federal Highway 7 from Hamburg to Flensburg through the village area and is on the Neumünster-Mitte exit. The Bundesstraße 430 from Lütjenburg to Schenefeld (Federal highway 23) runs from east to west through the municipality. The village is also connected to the Nordbahn, on the Neumünster–Heide rail line. The bus line 9 connects Wasbek and Wasbek-Bullenbek with Neumünster. Rendsburg
Rendsburg ( da, Rendsborg, also ''Rensborg'', nds, Rendsborg, also ''Rensborg'') is a town on the River Eider and the Kiel Canal in the central part of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the capital of the ''Kreis'' (district) of Rendsburg-Eckernförde. , it had a population of 28,476. History Rendsburg's foundation date is unknown though some form of fortifications was established by Bjørn Svendsen 1099–1100. Rendsburg was first mentioned in 1199. An old form of its name was Reinoldesburch. It became a part of Holstein in the 13th century, but was transferred to Schleswig in 1460. Many times the town passed from Danish to German control and vice versa. In the German-Danish War in 1864 Rendsburg was finally seized by Kingdom of Prussia and Austria. Büdelsdorf
Büdelsdorf ( da, Bydelstorp) is a town in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the river Eider and the Kiel Canal, approx. north of Rendsburg, and west of Kiel, just off the motorway. History The earliest inhabitants of the area which later became Büdelsdorf, were Stone-Age people who lived there around 3000 BC. Modern Büdelsdorf originates from a small settlement attached to Rendsburg around 1300 AD. In 1777, work on the Eider Canal linking the Baltic Sea to the North Sea began. In 1779, the boundaries of village were defined. In 1827, Hartwig Marcus Holler opened the Carlshütte, the first industrial-age iron- and steelworks in the duchy. Holler also built a shipyard and created jobs for the factory workers' wives. In 1841, he employed more than 250 workers. Felde is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is part of the municipal association Achterwehr. Felde is about 12 km away from Kiel and the federal highway 210 to Rendsburg, since 1989 the federal highway 202. Felde has an estimated population of 2121 residents, in an area of 13.87 km. As a rural central location, Felde, with its communal and private functions, belongs to the municipalities of the Achterwehr office and beyond.
