Renault Russia
Renault Russia ( rus, Рено Россия, Reno Rossiya, rʲɪˈno rɐˈsʲijə), known until 2014 as Avtoframos ( rus, Автофрамос, Avtoframos), was a Russian automotive company established in 1998 by the Moscow city and Renault. It was a wholly owned Renault subsidiary from 2012 onwards. The company disappeared in May 2022 as its assets were acquired by the Moscow city government. History In July 1998, the then Deputy Mayor of Moscow, Valery Shantsev, and a representative from Renault signed an agreement to create an automotive joint venture, based on an old OAO Moskvitch facility. Renault and the city of Moscow owned equally the new company. The car assembly started in April 1999. The Renault Symbol, Clio or Thalia in some markets, is a subcompact sedan produced by the French automobile manufacturer Renault. Moskvitch (russian: Москвич) (also written as ''Moskvich'', ''Moskvič'', or ''Moskwitsch'') is a Soviet/Russian automobile brand produced by AZLK from 1946 to 1991 and by OAO Moskvitch from 1991 to 2001 and later returned to production in 2022. The current article incorporates information about both the brand and the joint-stock successor of AZLK. OAO Moskvitch is a privatized venture name given to the former factory to avoid legal issues after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.
