Removable Media
Expandable storage is a form of computer storage that is designed to be inserted and removed from a system. Some forms of removable media, such as optical discs, require a reader to be installed in the computer, while others, such as USB flash drives, have all the hardware required to read them built into the device, so only need a driver to be installed in order to communicate with the device. Using removable media poses some risks, including data theft and the introduction of malware. Examples of media that require a reader include: * Optical discs (Blu-rays, DVDs, CDs) * Memory cards (CompactFlash, Secure Digital, Memory Stick) * Floppy and Zip disks * Disk packs * Magnetic tapes * Paper data storage (punched cards, punched tapes) Some removable media readers and drives are integrated into computers, others are themselves removable. Removable media may also refer to some removable storage devices, when they are used to transport or store data. Examples include: * USB flash ...

Removable Partial Denture
A removable partial denture (RPD) is a denture for a partially edentulous patient who desires to have replacement teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons and who cannot have a bridge (a fixed partial denture) for any reason, such as a lack of required teeth to serve as support for a bridge (i.e. distal abutments) or financial limitations. This type of prosthesis is referred to as a ''removable partial denture'' because patients can remove and reinsert it when required without professional help. Conversely, a "fixed" prosthesis can and should be removed only by a dental professional. The aim of an RPD is to restore masticatory function, speech, appearance and other anatomical features. Usage RPD may be used when there is a lack of required teeth to serve as support for a bridge (i.e. distal abutments) or financial limitations. A single-tooth RPD known as a "flipper tooth" may be used temporarily after a tooth is extracted, during the several months it takes to complete the ...

Removable User Identity Module
Removable User Identity Module (R-UIM, usually pronounced as "R-yuim") is a card developed for cdmaOne/CDMA2000 ("CDMA") handsets that extends the GSM Subscriber Identity Module, SIM card to CDMA phones and networks. To work in CDMA networks, the R-UIM contains an early version of the CSIM application. The card also contains SIM (GSM) application, so it can work on both networks. It is physically compatible with GSM SIMs and can fit into existing GSM phones as it is an extension of the GSM 11.11 standard. This (U)SIM interface, interface brings one of the main advantages of GSM to CDMA network phones. By having a removable identity card, CDMA users can change phones while keeping their phone numbers by simply swapping the cards. This simplifies many situations such as phone upgrades, phone replacements due to damage, or using the same phone on a different provider's CDMA network. The R-UIM card has been superseded by CSIM on Universal integrated circuit card, UICC. This techn ...

Removable Discontinuity
Continuous functions are of utmost importance in mathematics, functions and applications. However, not all Function (mathematics), functions are Continuous function, continuous. If a function is not continuous at a point in its Domain of a function, domain, one says that it has a discontinuity there. The Set theory, set of all points of discontinuity of a function may be a discrete set, a dense set, or even the entire domain of the function. This article describes the classification of discontinuities in the simplest case of functions of a single Real number, real Variable-sweep wing, variable taking real values. The Oscillation (mathematics), oscillation of a function at a point quantifies these discontinuities as follows: * in a removable discontinuity, the distance that the value of the function is off by is the oscillation; * in a jump discontinuity, the size of the jump is the oscillation (assuming that the value ''at'' the point lies between these limits of the two sides); * i ...

Removable Set
In the mathematical discipline of complex analysis, the analytic capacity of a compact subset ''K'' of the complex plane is a number that denotes "how big" a bounded analytic function on C \ ''K'' can become. Roughly speaking, ''γ''(''K'') measures the size of the unit ball of the space of bounded analytic functions outside ''K''. It was first introduced by Lars Ahlfors in the 1940s while studying the removability of singularities of bounded analytic functions. Definition Let ''K'' ⊂ C be compact. Then its analytic capacity is defined to be :\gamma(K) = \sup \ Here, \mathcal^\infty (U) denotes the set of bounded analytic functions ''U'' → C, whenever ''U'' is an open subset of the complex plane. Further, : f'(\infty):= \lim_z\left(f(z)-f(\infty)\right) : f(\infty):= \lim_f(z) Note that f'(\infty) = g'(0), where g(z) = f(1/z). However, usually f'(\infty)\neq \lim_ f'(z). If ''A'' ⊂ C is an arbitrary set, then we define :\gamma(A) = \sup \. Removable se ...

Removable Singularity
In complex analysis, a removable singularity of a holomorphic function is a point at which the function is undefined, but it is possible to redefine the function at that point in such a way that the resulting function is regular in a neighbourhood of that point. For instance, the (unnormalized) sinc function : \text(z) = \frac has a singularity at . This singularity can be removed by defining \text(0) := 1, which is the limit of as tends to 0. The resulting function is holomorphic. In this case the problem was caused by being given an indeterminate form. Taking a power series expansion for \frac around the singular point shows that : \text(z) = \frac\left(\sum_^ \frac \right) = \sum_^ \frac = 1 - \frac + \frac - \frac + \cdots. Formally, if U \subset \mathbb C is an open subset of the complex plane \mathbb C, a \in U a point of U, and f: U\setminus \ \rightarrow \mathbb C is a holomorphic function, then a is called a removable singularity for f if there exists a holomorp ...
