Remote Companies
The following is a list of remote companies. A fully remote company, or a distributed company, does not have a physical office where employees work and may have a mailbox as a headquarters locations. Their workers have the option of remote working. Many fully remote companies employ workers in several time zones. Benefits of being fully remote are: not having to pay office rent, the ability to expand quickly, and not being constrained by location when hiring employees. A downside is that being physically together could help employees better communicate and come up with ideas. Another downside is that employees may feel secluded from their coworkers whom they do not see in person. This could cause them not to have compassion for each other. To build a sense of community, fully remote companies have held frequent meetups and retreats that last a week. ''Stylist'' is a magazine for women that is published in the United Kingdom since 7 October 2009. There is currently a weekly digital edition and a monthly print edition, both of which are available via subscriptions. Ella Dolphin is CEO, and Lisa Smosarski is Editor-in-Chief. Product Hunt
Product Hunt is an American website to share and discover new products. It was founded by Ryan Hoover in November 2013. Users submit products, which are listed in a linear format by day. The site includes a comments system and a voting system similar to Hacker News or Reddit. The products with the most votes rise to the top of each day's list. Products are organized into four categories; technology products (web apps, mobile apps, hardware products, etc.), games (PC, web, mobile apps), books and podcasts. A submission simply requires a product title, URL, and tagline. As of 2016, according to Hoover, the website has led to the discovery of over 100 million products across 50,000 companies. Mapillary
Mapillary is a service for sharing crowdsourced geotagged photos, developed by remote company Mapillary AB, based in Malmö, Sweden. Mapillary was launched in 2013 and acquired by Facebook, Inc. (now Meta Platforms) in 2020. This is one of the few alternative platforms that has street level imagery like Google Street View. History Mapillary co-founders were Jan Erik Solem, Johan Gyllenspetz, Peter Neubauer and Yubin Kuang. According to Solem, Mapillary was founded to allow crowdsourcing of street-level imagery for use with computer vision. The project started in September 2013, with an iPhone app released in November 2013, followed by an Android app released in January 2014. Mapillary received $1.5 million in seed capital funding from a group of investors, led by Sequoia Capital in January 2015.
