Reminiscences (film)
''Reminiscencias'' is a 2010 Peruvian experimental documentary film written, produced, and directed by Juan Daniel Fernández Molero. Background Juan Daniel F. Molero recovered from a bout of amnesia incurred as a result of a sandboarding accident by reviewing home video footage shot by himself, his father, and his grandfather in various formats. He subsequently took the old and new footage and created a feature film of the events, with one-third of the final film recorded just after the accident. Using a "chaotic" editing technique which combined footage from SVHS-C, MiniDV tapes, cellphone videos and an 8mm home movie archive, the 84-minute film simulates the amnesia and recovery by Molero in 2009. Synopsis ''Reminiscencias'' deals with the creation and loss of memory and identity though an autobiographic exploration based on the filmmaker's own 2009 instance of amnesia. Molero had to use home movies shot by his father and grandfather, as well as digital footage shot by himself ... Reminisce / Where The Story Ends
"Reminisce" / "Where The Story Ends" are two songs by ten piece hip-hop group Blazin' Squad, released as a double A-side single from their debut studio album, '' In the Beginning''. Background Although a double A-side released was not originally intended, after the band expressed interest in both songs as singles, the record label decide to pair them together as a double A-side, as they did not wish to release four singles from one album. Although "Reminisce" received more radio and video airplay, "Where the Story Ends" also became a significant part of the single release, and was regularly performed on TV in promotion of the single. "Reminisce" contains a sample from Zapp's 1985 hit-single " Computer Love". The sample is mainly featured in the intro of the song. The single was released on 10 February 2003. Although it was the least successful single from the album, it did manage to reach a peak position of #8 on the UK Singles Chart The UK Singles Chart (currently titled O ... Reminisce (song)
"Reminisce" is a song by American singer Mary J. Blige from her debut album, ''What's the 411?'' (1992). It was co-written by Kenny Greene and Dave "Jam" Hall, who also produced it. Described as a new jack swing song inspired by 1970s soul music, it contains a sample of "Stop, Look, Listen" (1989) by American rapper MC Lyte. The single peaked at number fifty-seven on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number six on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. A more uptempo and hip hop-inspired remix of the song, featuring duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth, later appeared on Blige's 1993 remix album of the same name. Critical reception Daryl McIntosh from Albumism said that the song "followed what seemed to be Combs' formula" for the Yonkers, "by revolving around another '80s hip-hop sample, this time from Audio Two's close associate and femcee rhyme titan MC Lyte's "Stop, Look, and Listen". The Daily Vault's Mark Millan described it as "a slick, Whitney-esque R&B track that gives Blige a chance t ... Nostalgic
Nostalgia is a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations. The word ''nostalgia'' is a learned formation of a Greek compound, consisting of (''nóstos''), meaning "homecoming", a Homeric word, and (''álgos''), meaning "sorrow" or "despair", and was coined by a 17th-century medical student to describe the anxieties displayed by Swiss mercenaries fighting away from home. Described as a medical condition—a form of melancholy—in the Early Modern period, it became an important trope in Romanticism. Nostalgia is associated with a longing for the past, its personalities, possibilities, and events, especially the " good ol' days" or a "warm childhood". There is a predisposition, caused by cognitive biases such as rosy retrospection, for people to view the past more favourably and future more negatively. When applied to one's beliefs about a society or institution, this is called declinism, which has been described as "a tric ... The Quest For Identity
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archai ...
