Remigio Guido Barbieri
Remigio Guido Barbieri, O.S.B. (1836–1910) was an Italian-born Roman Catholic bishop who served as the Vicar Apostolic of Gibraltar from 1901 to 1910. Life Remigio Barbieri was born in Siena in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany of a noble Florentine family on 5 September 1836. He professed as a member of the Order of Saint Benedict on 20 June 1857 and ordained a priest of that order on 24 March 1861. Barbieri devoted the greater part of his life to the education of youth. In 1896 he became Abbot of San Pietro, Perugia. He was appointed the Vicar Apostolic of Gibraltar and Titular Bishop of Theodosiopolis by Pope Leo XIII on 29 July 1901. Remigio Cantagallina (c. 1582–1656) was an Italian etcher active in the Baroque period. He was born in Sansepolcro, formerly Borgo Santo Sepolcro, in the province of Arezzo. He is best known for his etchings of landscapes and religious subjects, influenced by Paul Bril. He was likely a pupil of the fellow-Florentine Giulio Parigi and Jacopo Ligozzi. In 1612–13 he traveled through the Dutch Republic, the Southern Netherlands, and France, which he documented in detailed drawings in pen and wash of buildings, houses, and cityscapes, complete with persons engaged at work or play in the foreground. His eye caught both the courtly celebrations and the peasant world. He produced detailed views of Brussels and Siena. Remigio dei Girolami (1235–1319) was an Italian Dominican theologian. He was an early pupil of Thomas Aquinas. His ''Tractatus de bono communi'' of 1302 is a significant work of political thought. Remigio was able to adapt the political thought of Aquinas, which emphasized monarchy, to the communal regimes of Italy. Two of his works, the ''Divisio scientie'' and ''Contra falsos ecclesie professores'', discuss music. He thought the church represented all human sciences, including the musical sciences that formed part of the quadrivium. Remigio Crespo Toral (August 4, 1860 – July 8, 1939) was an Ecuadorian writer from Cuenca (Ecuador), Cuenca. Biography Born in Cuenca, Ecuador, on August 4, 1860, into a well-known family of the region, Crespo Toral went to high school in the Seminary College of Cuenca (Ecuador), Cuenca, from 1873 to 1877, the year in which he entered the University of Cuenca, to study law and thus obtain a law degree, a fact that happened nine years later, in 1886. That same year he married Elvira Vega García (1868–1965), with whom he had ten children. He was President of the Chamber of Deputies of Ecuador, Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies in 1888.
