Remenham Challenge Cup
The Remenham Challenge Cup is a rowing event for women's eights at the annual Henley Royal Regatta on the River Thames at Henley-on-Thames in England. It is open to female crews from all eligible rowing clubs. Two or more clubs may combine to make an entry. History In 1998, the first invitation event was held for women's eight, which in 1999 became an open event known as the Henley Prize. Henley-on-Thames
Henley-on-Thames ( ) is a town and civil parish on the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England, northeast of Reading, west of Maidenhead, southeast of Oxford and west of London (by road), near the tripoint of Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Jane Robinson (rower)
Jane Robinson (born 12 December 1969 in Cobden, Victoria) is an Australian former rower - a national champion, three-time World Champion and triple Olympian. She competed at the Summer Olympics in 1996, 2000 and 2004; and at World Rowing Championships in 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, and 2003. She won World Championships as both a sculler and a sweep-oared rower. She attended Toorak College in Mount Eliza, Victoria. Club and state rowing Robinson's senior rowing was from the Melbourne Rowing Club where she started as an adult novice. She made her first state representative appearance for Victoria in the single sculls competition - racing for the Nell Slatter Trophy - in the 1995 Interstate Regatta at the Australian Rowing Championships. Heather Mary Stanning OBE (born 26 January 1985) is a retired British professional rower, a member of the Great Britain Rowing Team, and Royal Artillery officer. Ranked number 1 female rower in the world in 2016, she is a double Olympic champion, double World champion, quadruple World Cup champion and double European champion. As of May 2015, she and her partner Helen Glover were the World, Olympic, World Cup and European record holders, plus the reigning Olympic, World, and European champions in the women's coxless pairs. She has also been a British champion in both women's fours and quad sculls. Furnivall Sculling Club
Furnivall Sculling Club is a rowing club based on the Tideway in Hammersmith, London. It was for a time called Hammersmith Sculling Club. It was founded in 1896 by Frederick Furnivall, after whom the riverside Furnivall Gardens a few metres away are named. For its initial five years, in the reign of Queen Victoria, the club was for females only and is widely considered to have had the world's first female rowing team (crew). Furnivall has also admitted males since 1901. The club colours are a precise pallette: myrtle and old gold. Durham University Boat Club
Durham University Boat Club (DUBC) is the rowing club of Durham University. In recent years, DUBC has cemented itself as one of the strongest university boat clubs in Great Britain. Under the leadership of former British Olympian Wade Hall-Craggs, DUBC notably won the BUCS Victor Ludorum for ten consecutive years (2004-2013), and has produced a number of athletes that have competed internationally at European and World Championship level. Leander Club
Leander Club, founded in 1818, is one of the oldest rowing clubs in the world, and the oldest non-academic club. It is based in Remenham in Berkshire, England and adjoins Henley-on-Thames. Only three other surviving clubs were founded prior to Leander: Brasenose College Boat Club and Jesus College Boat Club (the two competing in a Head race in 1815) and Westminster School Boat Club, founded in 1813. History Leander was founded on the Tideway in 1818 or 1819 by members of the old "Star" and "Arrow" Clubs and membership was at first limited to sixteen. Tideway Scullers School
Tideway Scullers School is a rowing club on the Tideway of the River Thames next to Chiswick Bridge in Chiswick, London. The club previously held the headship for the Head of the River Race (2009), the largest UK eights event, and the senior squad holds the record for the Head of the River Fours course. History Alec Hodges was a founder member and an organiser of Tideway Scullers School in approximately 1957, filling all offices of the club at one time or another over the years. He was the driving force behind getting the TSS boathouse built in 1984, along with Lou Barry and Cyril Bishop. Oxford Brookes University Boat Club (known as Brookes especially verbally and as OBUBC in formal print) is the rowing club of Oxford Brookes University, England. Carly Bilson
Carly Bilson (born 18 February 1981) is an Australian former rowing coxswain – a national champion and World Champion. She is Australia's first female World Champion coxswain, having steered the 2001 World Championship women's eight to victory. Kristina Larsen (rower)
Kristina Larsen (born 17 March 1978 in Sydney) is an Australian former representative rower. She is a two-time World Champion, an Olympian and won ten Australian national championship titles in sweep-oared boats, often at stroke. Club and state rowing Larsen was selected in a rowing talent identification program in 1993 aged just 15. She had already excelled in surf life saving, netball and athletics and was regarded as a promising all-round athlete. Her early rowing training was undertaken at the New South Wales Institute of Sports on Narrabeen Lakes where she developed her skills before receiving support from the AIS.
